No help from the Help Desk
I made this request twice with the "Contact Us" option with no help offered so I am asking for moderator help. When I go into User CP and look at "Private Messages" then I can select either "In Box" or "Sent Items". Isn't "Sent Items" where private messages from me to other forum members should be listed? Mine has always shown "0 Messages" although I should have many listed. Do you understand my problem? Can you help me get it corrected? THX!!

Had a similar issue last month where my sent box didn't show messages I thought I had sent.

When you create a message, you have to scroll way down to the bottom to check where it says "Save a copy of this message in your Sent Items folder." It would be nice if that were the default but it isn't.

Under options at the end of the "Messaging & Notification" section, there's "Save a copy of sent messages in my Sent Items folder by default". Is this turned on?

Doug's solution is better and sets it as the default. I had missed that option when setting up my account.

No it wasn't. Thanks! A long time ago I had my messages listed but maybe the defaults changed when this site changed ownership or was upgraded...and yes, this should be the default option. Thanks!

and where the heck is "Messaging & Notification" to be found?
I've looked through User CP and I can't find it.

The reason it's not a default is due to the limitation of the number of messages. It doesn't take long for Inbox/Sent to completely plug up and you'd no longer be able to receive messages.
IMHO there are few messages that I respond to that are important enough to keep both sides of the conversation. I'd prefer choosing those that I do care to track. YMMV

I found that using the Sent folder is awkward, because it separates what I send from the responses that I receive. My solution is to uncheck the "keep a copy in Sent" option, and include myself (in the BCC line) of messages I send. That way, I have everything and it is all together. Different approaches work for different people.
