Starting new group

I am wanting to start a new Escape owners group.. Does anyone have any ideas where I would start the group ? I am really unsure where I would do this. Any help would be really appreciated.

Do you mean as another topic on this forum, or elsewhere?
Do you mean people who have only owned their Escape for less than a year or what?

Forum topics are generally not added by members. If you mean a new forum, what is the purpose?

Go "groups" then "add a new group" Unless I am missing something.

If you go to groups on this main page you will find an existing BC Escape group. It has had 19 posts since it was started.
If you look at any of the others under groups, you will find similar statistics.
If you still want to start a group, go ahead, but prepare to be lonely.

Have to add, that I don't understand the desire to create sub groups. Those who are already here will read posts of interest to them and contribute. The rest will maybe read and become interested, or not.
If I were to create a subgroup for my camping buddy and myself, what would the purpose be?

Maybe he wants to start a Poutine Lovers group. That would make some folks happy.

I was looking for group info, can someone point me to the FAQs?

Let's say there is people who seem to post negative or discouraging posts and you would like to be able to bounce ideas around in a positive way.

Could you start a group and who 'accepts' who gets in the group?

In a 'group' can only the people in the group reply?

Sounds like great option now that so many folks are on the Forum and some just can't help but post on and on. At times it's hard to read through the chatter to get to the meat and potatos through the poutine (that's a poutine joke)

"Robin: Oh, I’m as serious as a poutine shortage in Chicoutimi during a curling bonspiel. Barney: I don't know what any of those words mean! Robin: Yes, you do."

Alternatively, you can "ignore" posters who contribute chatter (etc) but that only works if you are logged in and will also 'zap' their useful posts.

Alternatively, you could start your own trailer forum and you could determine who gets to post.

Someone a while back was talking about getting a Facebook group going again. Maybe you could get it started and be the admin.

I think that would be way too much trouble for me but a great idea for someone looking for something to do. We have such a deep pool of folks right here that 'it's all here' for me. Just gets a little noisy at times.

At times I just want to drill a little deeper into topics and they seem to get lost at times on the public side. Nothing wrong, just a 'side effect' of the Forum growing. I think of it like making a small meeting room on the side of the auditorium to 'geek out'.

I always appreciate it Klem when you geek out in the main room. Have learned alot about mods from reading your posts.

We kind of took the long way but Thanks! to BCnomad we have your answer. What would you like it to be about?

I have a few ideas. Looks to me like starting a Moderated Group with a few other folks would work well. I am more technically focused and don't have much spare time. Now that I'm retired the time I waste is my own ....

Heck ya, if everyone can't see it then you would miss many great ideas!

After reviewing Groups that's what I like about a Moderated Group. Everyone can see it all, but any posts must be approved prior to anyone seeing them. We could keep it focused on a narrow topic, much easier to read.

Thank You. Had back surgery last week so 'hang in there' is exactly what I'm trying to do. I think it went very well but only time with tell.

Might bounce a Moderated Group idea off you in the future, it's got to be simple and low maintenance. Probably will be lonely which would be just fine with me, just post a few pearls of info.

Need to think it though and send it to Route 66 for 'polishing'.

Glad this topic was introduced by bluegrouse

We appreciate members thinking of ways to improve the experience here, but past experience has shown that having "private" or "exclusive" parts of forums just don't work well.

We want all members to be able to learn and to share their thoughts freely.

We are inclusive, not exclusive and all members are welcome to post in all areas of the forum.

Thanks.

Seems many of the Texas folks do their own thing together but rarely surface here. They must have created some way of communicating besides this forum.
