Hi: Not so Big Al...All technologies aside you will be able to haul any Escape like a "Bolt out of the Blue"!!!
Our 2010 4X4 CC Fronty didn't have the complete tow pkg. We needed to add one wire harness in the pass. comp. toe kick panel to link the already done front cab/rear box wiring for a trailer. No big deal... and not having the hitch under the bumper was a weight savings though it can be added easy enough. The 4 by's already have the trans. cooler and the Escape has the beer cooler!!! Hi: Not so Big Al... No. The brake controller plug in is already there near the steering column. We took ours with us from the Sierra PU. The engine comp. is wired for towing as is the back of the truck...they just leave out the relay that joins the harness' together, unless you order the trailer tow pkg.
We bought a year end leftover Fronty. so no pkg. My RV. Tech. charged me $300. to R&R the hitch and brake controller and supply the wiring harness.
Nissan has one from their parts bin...but we went with an after market one for less. BTW...Reace has a good hitch shop near by that talks Escapes language!!! Alf
