Re: Well it's time...

Thanks Jeff for providing this forum for those of us interested in Escape trailers. A glance at the total time logged in shows that I've spent 4 days, 14 hours & 17 minutes communicating with many with similar interests, most of who I've only "met" through the forum. Thanks again!

Re: Well it's time...

Thank you Jeff, this site was a wonferful tool for all of us. I was very thankful for the benefit of this site during the ordering and purchasing of our new Escape. With out this site I would not have been able to spec out our trailer as we did.
So thanks again.

Yes, thanks Donna. It's nice to see you over here! I am sure you all know but Donna has done an amazing job fostering the molded fiberglass community (online and offline) in the Northwest. I don't know anyone more passionate about fiberglass trailers then Donna!

It sure does but keep in mind many are itsy bitsy sites and others are huge. Ironically the tiny sites take more time because the big ones have well developed mod/admin teams who do an amazing job leading their communities. I am honored to work with so many fine people and to help foster some of the best communities on the internet!

If the fiberglass trailer community was a scout troop, Donna would be our den mother.

Re: Well it's time...

Andy, don't know if we still have your attention, but I wonder if you can make some changes. One request I have that I have seen others make is the number of pages of recent posts. If we go camping with no wifi, we miss many posting subjects. Can that ten pages possibly be increased to, say, a hundred pages? We don't know what people have covered while gone many times.

Re: Well it's time...

Cathy, not sure I am following your request. Whenever I visit this site, I just click on 'Show unread posts since last visit', and it lists out all the posts I have not seen. This way nothing slips by these inquisitive eyes.

I sure do look forward to the vBulletin format though.

Re: Well it's time...

Jim, I have always been going to "View the most recent posts" at the bottom. I take it from what you are saying that I will find all of my unread posts under what is at the top no matter how far back. I wonder why the "most recent" list only goes ten pages. I wonder if that means that you have to read your unread posts all at one sitting. (or otherwise you have then lost the rest the next time you come on?) Hope not!

Okay, Andy, guess you can scratch that! I was used to doing something one way and thought that was it. I probably still don't know half of the things that this site has.

Re: Well it's time...

Cathy, pretty sure that if you don't open a thread with unread posts, that it remains in the list. Not 100% positive on how things work though.

Re: Well it's time...

I am not sure how SMF, the current forum software handles unread discussions. In the week ahead we will be switching to vBulletin which will work just like Jim described. SMF is a great free opensource software but vBulletin has some extra bells and whistles and should make a solid platform for us moving forward. We'll get some smart phone apps developed (iOS and Android) so it will be lightning quick to interact with the community when on slow connections while camping.

Re: Well it's time...

Jim, on the same vein, you were mentioning that you don't always log out. Well, the reason I would be using what's at the bottom is that I would not log in (unless I had something to post.) If you don't log in, you do not see the "Show unread posts" as well as some other things.

If we just never log out, we would always see those things. I wonder if there is any problem with just staying logged in all of the time.

Andy, I look forward to your additions and seeing how they work.

Re: Well it's time...

Cathy, you are logged out whenever you close down the site, and can be set to automatically log in when you open it up again. This is what I do. What I was referring to, is that sometimes I never even bother to close the page with the site on. I usually have about 10-30 tabs open in a couple browser windows, rather than reopening everything every time I come back.

Andy, I am sure looking forward to the implementation of vBulletin, it is much easier to use, and much more flexible. There is only one other site I peruse that still uses SMF, and its interface is frustrating.

Re: Well it's time...

I must have been leaving the page open because a couple of times, I think I would get on and be surprised that I was still logged in from the day before. It must be an indication of how much time I spend on this site and that I am on it last at night and first the next day! It is called Escapitis.

I am used to vBulletin at some other sites so it should be good.

Re: Well it's time...

As a long time SMF forum admin/user, I'm also looking forward to seeing what is "new" with vbulletin.

I was wondering (in the back of my mind) why Jeff hadn't updated the software around here to version 2, now I know.

Welcome Andy, and crew!
