What happens to some of these threads?
Maybe someone can explain something to me, please.
For example, for the Trips and Travel Planning section - on the main (home) page of the forum it says there are 522 threads. And, yet, when I click on that section, only 2 threads are listed. Both for this month.
Are posts removed from certain sections after x-amount of time? If not, where the heck are those other threads?
Is there something else I need to click on?
I'm starting to plan a big trip and I'd like to ask for suggestions on my route (what to see, where to stay, etc), but I don't want the thread to disappear right away before folks have gotten a chance to respond.
Thanks for clearing up my confusion. (least in this regards )

I'm seeing 27 pages of threads in that section, the last of which dates back to 2011??

Yes, I also see all of those pages of threads. It was noted that only two people were viewing. Is that what you saw? If you look again, you may see the threads.

"display options" at the bottom of the first page of that category (well, any category) can be manipulated by time and sorted a multitude of ways.

Cathy, Look at the menu bar across the top, click on “User CP”. This opens the user control panel. Scroll down on the left side of the screen you will see different sections. 3rd one down is “Settings and Options”. In that section, click on “Edit Options”. This will open a screen with many options that you can set. 3rd section down “Thread Display Options” has a setting for default thread age. The normal default is 2 days. In the attached screen shot you can see I have changed mine to one month. Once you change the setting you will need to scroll all the way down to the bottom and click on the “Save Changes” button to keep your selections.

and I would recommend a good gps/map system, like Rand McNally where you can plan on line your route and stops and upload to your computer and gps.

Could the view also be device dependent? I only use a Windows 10 laptop to view the forum, never a cellphone. The software is designed for a computer, so while there is some third-party software that can be used for other devices (Tapatalk) the viewing experience may be totally different.

This fixed it! YAY!!! I've looked at my User CP before but not that particular option.
THANKS! (Yes, shouting with glee as it's been bugging me for a long time why I wasn't seeing more threads.)

Great! I wonder if you changed it when you were doing all of that shopping.

Just read through a blog post where a couple of full-timers said they use OptiMap to plan their trips ( https://gebweb.net/optimap/). Haven't looked at it closely, but it could help in your plans.

Strange, just looks like they are using Google Maps. Wonder what the advantages would be over just doing it in Google maps.
Ahhh, reading some of the underneath it looks like it allows around 24 entries to be calculated vs the limitations in Maps.
