When someone sells their Escape on the Forum. Should they give back?

What happens now is it's 100% up to the individual if they want to donate back to the Forum. This is a way to support and pay it forward to keep the Forum going. In the history of the Forum, we received one donation for $25 after selling their Escape on the Forum. So my possible solution is to add a charge to just to post in the "Selling" area of the Forum. It would be a 1 time charge and if they like to donate as well that's great. We have a wonderful forum, free of clutter and I would like to keep it that way.

I would have no issue paying something like $25 to sell a trailer here. A small price to pay for the perfect place to list an Escape trailer for sale.

How about calling it a donation of $25.00 which is deductible. Would that include Escape forum sales?

I don't see a problem however it may be difficult to determine which forum made the sale since they are often advertised on multiple forums...

You're right - It's hard to actually know if they actually sold via our Forum.. You can sort-of see if there's a comments going back & forth via the post and if that person is an actual user on the forum..(who buy's it). But if it doesn't seem reasonable to charge for the post, we won't do it. Just trying to get creative rather than just adding Ad's to the Forum to generate some revenue.. No biggie. We'll see how this poll goes and go from there..

I never actually voted, because there needs to be a 3rd option for...Yes, as long as it is not more than $25. That really is a small pittance compared to the sale price of an Escape trailer.

I think the "no" votes should only count if those voters each make a $10 donation to the forum. Problem solved!

Hi: JeffZ... Here in Canada "No Votes" can lead to a series of "RoboCalls". They're only for the purpose of redirecting you to a proper...VOTE!!! or so the PM's office seems to indicate. Alf

Ok.. I'm trying a simple tower ad to see if that works for ad revenue..

Re: When someone sells their Escape on the Forum. Should they give back?

That Zagg ad has been following me around the internet ever since you posted the link a couple weeks ago when we were discussing inverters. I had a look and now Zagg pops up every page I go to.
If they have to pay 1/3 of a cent each time it appears, they'll be bankrupt soon. I assume they only pay if somebody clicks on the ad

Anyway, I can live with it, not like it but, live with it. Somebody has to pay the bills and it shouldn't just be you Jeff.

Re: When someone sells their Escape on the Forum. Should they give back?

My vague understanding is that Google can track key-words in your emails and sites you visit.
They use that to direct ads.

You can change your privacy settings to block that, but who can be bothered.

Re: When someone sells their Escape on the Forum. Should they give back?

Personally... all these forums are like sandboxes and I'm just grateful I've been provided a place to "play." Since I don't PAY to participate, whatever the owners of the site(s) need to do, to provide me with entertainment and a place to interact with like-minded people... is A-Okay with me. It's often been said... you get what you pay for... I pay nothing, I enjoy what's offered.... and can't complain because it is... what it is.. Frankly the people who #$$!%^ the loudest should foot the bill(s). YMMV
