Yellowstone CLOSED, All Gates - Flooding, Mudslides

The park has been temporarily closed at all gates due to flooding and rock slides. No inbound visitor traffic will be allowed into the park until conditions stabilize and the park can assess damage to roads and bridges and other facilities. This includes visitors with lodging and camping reservations.

The best laid schemes o’ mice an’ men gang aft a-gley. Burns was right about that and he wasn’t a modern planning ahead camper.

It will take time to get that damage back to normal, and as Jim says, not in his memory or mine either. Course he’s a lot older than I am.

They did have the earthquake too, back when I was a young buck.

I’m working here all summer at Tower Falls General store. We are stranded I think. Can’t go to Gardiner or Livingston, MT. We have no power. More rain and wind and snow predicted. The ground is saturated and they are worried about trees coming down. My solar works great so far. I have heat and lights and lots of wine. Of course the staff is eating the ice cream. My little 5.0 is great!

If you sell propane I’d buy some before it’s sold out.

My wife and I are working at the general store at Old Faithful. There is no obvious damage or flooding in our immediate area. The hotels and campgrounds appear to have been evacuated. We do still have power and have not been told to leave the employee RV park. Some roads will take years to be repaired.
