Fuel efficient tow vehicle., starting at

The 5.0 and 5.0TA are taller than the corresponding conventional trailers (to provide headroom on the sleeping loft) which adds frontal area and therefore drag, but they are also tucked up closer to the truck which reduces drag. There shouldn't be much drag difference (and it could go either way). I don't know if anyone other than Reace has pulled both a 5.0TA and a 21 Foot with the same truck to make a direct comparison, and I don't know if Reace really had the same conditions or how closely he checked fuel consumption.
I agree that other factors (tow vehicle type required, carrying space, where trailer weight is carried by the tug, hitch type, trailer layout and size) are more significant than drag.
Most fifth-wheel RV trailers are in that format because they are very large and a reasonable tow vehicle couldn't handle a conventional trailer of that size. This is not the case with Escape-sized trailers.
