Talking Are we crazy? Building a 21NE

Hi!

We are just in the process of filling out our build sheet and I wanted to do a quick introduction.

We are a family of 4 living in New England, US (mom, dad, 2 sons, 1 grown.) We LOVE to travel and in the uncertainty of the times we decided to build an Escape 21NE to travel several of our winter months of the year. Before all this, we had talked about going full time but now we want to hang on to our land and see what happens.

I have so many questions, especially about the build but I'll submit those in the appropriate forums.

For now, Hi! and so excited.....

water filtration

Ok, I will buy a "free" question:

Anyone use the Acuva uv filtration system?

Anyone use the in-line Clearsource water filtration system?

TIA

We have a $15 Camco water filter that we purchased at Walmart
We use it everytime we go camping unless we forget.

Do you use one at home?

At most, you might want a drinking water filter with a single spout at the kitchen sink.

After going through all the pain leading to filling out my build sheet recently for our 21NE, let us be a resource to help you out, as others helped us out. Do you have specific questions?

Can't help though on the three items I fretted a lot over...fabric, flooring and formica choices - you're on your own there!

We have the hose filter that Escape sells if we use water away from home. So far we have only used Boulder water which is first use water. Meaning we are the first to use it. We own our own glacier (actually a snow field). I try to use only Boulder water but I would use other water with the filter I bought with the trailer, after I taste the water to see if I want it in the trailer.

If the water has any kind of taste to it at all, I'm not using it or letting it in.

Right now our water in the trailer is easily good enough to drink right out of the tap.

I asked my wife if we could sell the house and go full time in the 5.0 and she looked at me like I was crazy. We are keeping out house too!

Welcome to the forum.

Answers are free and opinions are even more free. And you'll get different opinions on just about every topic possible. But despite that you'll also get lots of helpful info.

UncleTim, That is so cool that you own a glacier! We used to live in Ft Collins. I love Colorado! It’s where I learned to tent camp along the Poudre.

We ended up going with the 3 stage Clearsource and a Berkey Filter. We’ll see how we like them come November when we pick up our trailer in Sumas.

I was up in Big Bend campground along the Poudre two weeks ago. did 13 miles of whitewater with my kid. The town owns the glacier, they don't even let me hike by it!

The build sheet was easy, I think we spent 5 minutes looking at it. We knew what we wanted and didn't after owning an older Escape 17B. We only really got the stuff you couldn't add later like

Kitchen Window
Bathroom Window
4 Captains Lights
Front Storage Box
Cupboard door on end of dinette
Water Heater with 120V element
Flip up counter extension at the bed

AC, yes we could add later but my wife didn't support any purchase that didn't have Air

I think that's pretty typical for folks buying their second Escape. And then there's those first time buyers agonizing for months over their build sheet.
