Best 25th Anniversary Present!

I realize we are the 3rd new NorCal 21 to post here in 2 days. Must be something in the (lack of) water!

Our 21ft baby is due on November 17th. We've only tent camped before so are new to pulling a trailer but with kids away in college and retirement on the horizon, are ready and eager to begin this new adventure (along with our 2 little minpins). We likely won't pick it up until the spring sometime. Hopefully by then we will be retired and enjoy our first leisurely trip as we bring it home to Granite Bay California (near Sacramento).

We started looking at Airstreams then found Casitas and also considered the Oliver and the still hatching Nest Caravan. But overall, Escape was always a clear front runner. Then we went through all 4 stages of 2 footitis and visited a 19 a few weeks ago, but decided on the 21 without a look see.

For starters we will be towing it with a borrowed Ford F250 (rated for 17700 lbs!). Probably a bad idea as we will get spoiled right off the bat! But it's available to us and we want to get a feel for towing before we decide on a tow vehicle.

Still working on a name. Escape Pod? Perfect Timing? Please let me know if either of these names are already used.

This trailer will be our gift to ourselves. And with that, Kevin and I are happy to say good-bye to our lurker status and hello to this fine Escape family!

Hi, Jill,
We, too, went to an Escape from tent camping and you will be so glad of the change. We went through the same looking that you did.

Now it's the fun option time. Good idea to wait until spring.

Escape Pod sounds familiar but don't know that anyone is using it for sure.

I'm sure Escape Pod is in use, but mine is Toad and that's already in use by thousands of motor homes.
Anyway, you could go "21 Skidoo".
A variation of "23 Skidoo".

Congrats you will like the extra few feet of the 21, now as a family of 5 i hope that we do not outgrow ours too soon

We have a V6 that is currently towing 7th Heaven, it has towed well thus far but i'm looking forward to replace it with a V8 just for the extra Insurance.

Now the real hard part begins .. the option list

Good Luck
-David

Congrats Jill! Lots of decisions and waiting and fun times ahead. We are former tent campers too -- that's how 'Past Tents' got named. Pick a name that's special to you and your changing lifestyle. I'm sure it will be great.

Welcome, and congrats on your purchase.

If you want a name, use any one that works for you. It does not matter that someone else uses it, as we have observed with so many others using our name, "The Trailer".

I guess you'll be choosing silver graphics

Thanks for the warm welcome and the name advice. We'll sit on it a bit longer before making a decision.

PaulW it took me a second to get the reference on the silver graphics - good one!

And YES to the NorCal rally. Looking forward to it already!

Congratulations! We moved from tents, to a pop-up, to an EggCamper, to the 21' Escape; but if it had been possible at the time, straight to the Escape would have been the way to go! BTW, don't let that big F250 influence you too much, any full-sized pickup will do a great job with the 21' Escape.
