I would really doubt (hope) this would not be true, or there would be many tens (probably hundreds) of thousands of Canadians affected by this. I bet that 90% of folks I know have some form of cannabis stock in their portfolio.

I live in CO where pot is legal. It’s not legal in any of the bordering states. CO cars are frequently stopped and searched based on certain profiling.
Wonder if vehicles from Canada will eventually run into this?

I don't compare stock portfolios with my friends or family, but no one has mentioned holding any cannabis-related stocks, and my investment advisor does not recommend this sector. I don't think it's the problem that Jim is expecting, but I suppose in time we'll see.

In the mean time, I would seriously consider resetting my phone before crossing the border, and restoring it on the other side, if I had anything on it or accessible to it which would cause concerns.

Aside from cannabis, people with interests in weapons and other potentially problematic subjects might want to take some precautions.

And for those who still like bumper stickers or similar displays on their vehicles, it might be worth having a look from the point of view of a border official.

We live 50 mi. SE of Santa Barbara. The concern here is 'what if you are caught with plastic straws?' if stopped when travelling N on US-101 through SB.

I have posted this before.
US citizens, can obtain a Canadian “Possesion Aquisition License “ Non-Restricted and Restricted “ for the purpose of purchasing firearms and ammunition in Canada.

A holder of a “PAL” can apply for an “Authorization to Transport” firearms through Canada, whether the firearm is a handgun or a long gun, if you want to transport your firearms into or through Canada.

Many of my Freinds also ship their firearms , to a gunsmith, at the location they are going to, to hold until their arrival.
Canadians, do this going into the States, and Americans do this into Canada.
Both methods are legal in both countries.
Either one saves a lot of problems at the border.

Hi: dfandrews... Won't they confiscate the plastic straws when they mark how much water you're leaving the state with? Alf

I picked up my 17b in June. My suv was packed to the rafters with tubs, bags, etc., and 3 small dogs. I also had a bike rack on back carrying xpens for the dogs. The border agents were polite, asked only standard questions “reason for visit, where are you going, how long will you stay, do you have any alcohol or weapons?” I had made a point of not carrying anything that would raise questions, and had no issues crossing into, or out of, Canada.

Travel between Vancouver and Chilliwack can be quite heavy. Leave yourself plenty of time.

We stayed next door at the Best Western, on the day of delivery they allowed a late check out so that we could return from Bob's Burgers and empty the truck and put items in the trailer while at the BW parking lot. That way we could stop on the road on the return trip and sleep inside the trailer without having to unload at a rest area. Plan to do the same again in May. They have the best waffles with canadian maple syrup.....

When driving through the border crossing do the US border guards ask, upon return to the US, if you have been to a farm?

We were asked that at the Vancouver airport on our flight back from Saskatoon. I answered in the affirmative as I had helped out a couple days at my BIL's hay farm. There was never any follow-up to my yes answer so I'm not sure what the purpose of the question was.

The question has to do with transmission of disease, like "Mad Cow". Not sure why they would ask without follow up.
Was assigned to photograph a turkey farm. Had to wear disposable overalls and and a cap and walk through a disinfectant before entering and upon leaving the barn.

This reminds me of a joke.

Q: Why is PMS called PMS?
A: Because Mad Cow was already taken.

I have relatives who make me do the same thing when entering their home!

Thanks, and yes I also thought it odd why they didn't pursue it.
