Brand New RVer in New England!

We just put in our deposit on a brand new Escape 21NE. It's our first RV ever, and the hope is that it remains ours for a long time. I've spent months reading through tons of posts in this forum & watching numerous YouTube videos about RVs, camping, boondocking, winterizing and maintenance, decorating, remodels, you name it. Can't wait to get on the road! My hope for this forum is that we will find some fellow Escapers in the New England area, and to learn about some great places to stay across the eastern US and Canada. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance!

Much depends on your experience. If you're new to camping or any RVs, a good idea is to get your feet—er, wheels—wet by starting in your driveway, then in nearby state or private campgrounds, just to get the hang of it all. It's a good idea anyway, with a new trailer, just to make sure everything's working. There are plenty of parks in New England. Beyond that, it's all up to you.

Greetings Millenial Camper,

Welcome to our little corner of the Hundred Acre Wood. My 2022 5.0 is my first rv also; hope that you love yours as much as I love mine.

You might consider going to some rallies. Besides meeting some lovely people, you'll find all the help you might want with your Escape & ideas for all things rv-related. I'm currently in Newfoundland, a fantastic place I'd never considered visiting until some Escape owners recommended it. The Niagara Wine Escape coming up in a few weeks is always a good one, & others are listed in the rally section on this forum.

Best of luck on your many adventures!

Only rally I know of in New England is the Spring Fling Egg Rally in Tamworth, NH: https://springflingne.org We'll be there. Swing by us here in Framingham, too, if you're in the neighborhood.

Welcome, from another east coast (Virginia) camper.

If you like the beach, I highly recommend First Landing State Park in the summer. It's right on mouth of the Chesapeake Bay, and is a great place to swim, relax, and enjoy the wildlife. We were there last week and had dolphins swimming around and underneath our paddle boards and kayaks!

We were there a few years ago with daughter's family (they live in VA). Great beach, though our site back in the woods was beset with houseflies. I think some previous occupants had buried fish there, or something. Probably an anomaly.

Bummer! We've been there more times than I can count, and so far we've had good luck with the bugs. In fact, I'm always surprised with how few mosquitoes, flies, and other pests there are, given it's a beach area.

I often see large dragonflies though. Maybe those keep the other pests under control?

Welcome Millenial from a Boomer,
Also in New England, my wife and I have just recently upgraded from a pop up to an Escape and have camped all over the North East and Mid Atlantic for decades. Not much in the way of good RVing in our state of Connecticut but up your way in both the Green and White Mountain areas as well as the Lakes region of New Hampshire there is plentiful camping. Some more remote spots can be found in the Rangley Lakes of Maine if that's your preference. However, our absolute favorite spot in all of the North East is Blackwoods Campground at Acadia National Park, ME. Like many Nat/Parks, there are no hookups so it's what we refer to as semi-boondocking. The sites are almost all wooded, beautifully maintained, and the hiking and biking is among the most rewarding you will find anywhere. I honestly hate raving about this place because it's already one of the most visited parks but so worth it. There are also 2 other campgrounds within the park "Sea Wall" and "Schoodic Point". Both have their charms but Blackwoods is our hands down favorite. I know you'll enjoy every trip in your new Escape regardless of the destination. Safe travels.
