Escape from Alcatraz
Spent 2 looong days driving to Chilliwackasack from SF Bay, held up by a seething Border guard that was unhappy my dog’s rabies vaccination tag was left at home, dog and I were shameless violators of the new leash laws inside the Escape showroom-Verboten signs now on front door, coffee table, inside the trailers and even the bathrooms. Vigilant owners daughter almost got bit on the ankles by a highly trained Attack Poodle as a result, although she didn’t realize the extreme danger she was in at the moment. Got into a heated parking lot argument with another Escape owner about Tarrifs and Trump (l’m a Deplorable). Oh yes, I also put in an order for a 21 footer, with all the cool doo-dads.
Due in March. Need a name for it, and a truck.

For a name, how about "Entitled".

Hi: BilltheGIL... I still carry the scars to my wrist from an "Attack poodle". He bit through my S/S watch strap too.
Name suggestion "Escape Dog".
Hope you get delivery before any tear offs affect ETI's business. Alf

Best get to Walmart and stock up on cheap Chinese-made products.

Actually we were otherwise well behaved, and drove off on good terms with all. Linda the sales lady knew her product well. Necktie party is officially postponed!

Did you have to board the dog or did it sneak through?

No complaints with the strong US dollar, made buying an Escape a decision that was 26% easier for us Gringos.
China is next on our Presidents Tariff hit list. Prices for the trailer plastics at Wally World might rise.

Boarder Guard let us through. Californians are not always the most loved people in general. We have a well deserved reputation, with lots of loonies and outright crazies here in SF. I was on my best behavior or else I wasn’t getting in.

If you're a Californian and not there they may consider you a deplorable "Escapee From the Asylum" and take mercy on you.

Rules
Rules, no one likes them but if a business post signs that say all dogs must be on leash I think someone should be happy they even allow dogs in the business.
I too carry a pretty nasty scar on the outside of my right leg, my cousins dog when I was 12 decided he wanted to bite me one day, had known the dog for many years and always friendly. I ended up with 13 stitches and a scar that the area is still numb 43 years later. This young person could already have a fear of animals in some way, may not be the first rodeo for something like this to happen to her?
I'll skip all the politics but will say yes some of us here in the south think you Californian's are crazy, not always in a bad way though and Yosemite is probably the best place I ever hiked .
Safe travels to all,
Steve

Just a reminder, at least to those who've read the rules.
Discussions about politics, religion and weaponry will be closed or removed.

That totally makes me think of Cali. I’ve never lived or visited any place in the world where people drive in such an Entitled fashion as California. I’m sure there are lots of other places just as bad. I’ve experienced Italians and Haitians driving fairly offensively. But there is no other place that gets me as steamed as the arrogant, rude, dangerous people who sadly frequent Californian roads. That’s one of the many reason we don’t live there: “The rules don’t apply to me” attitude.

Uh-oh, seems like you're just confirming the briefing that I been given, before I head to Haiti next week to do some volunteer work. Do not under any circumstances drive the company vehicle, always have our local driver drive you.
Hey, what's with this knocking Californians? CA feels like my home away from home. I've driven in all our Provinces, the majority of States and in a lot of other countries and I don't think CA is any worse than any other place. Sure, transiting LA during rush hour is a little hard on the nerves but so's doing the same thing here. California, love it.

I've driven in many places
I could complain of many, but someone would not agree. Of course the Europeans are great because as a tourist they watch out for me as someone that doesn't know where I'm going.

When in someone else's home, treat it with respect. We have traveled throughout the West the past several weeks and never once got into an argument or talked politics. If you are looking for a fight, you will find it.
As far as drivers: Don't put us all in one basket. Driving in any city can be difficult and California is no exception. Granted, we have remote areas and our share of congestion. You can find the gold nuggets if you take the time.
