Hello Escapee's!
Although I'm not a new member, this is the first time I've attempted to post anything. My wife and I purchased our 2011 17B in Minneapolis a year ago... we've since done several short local trips. This Spring I outfitted our TV with a large solar panel mounted to also act as a wind deflector. We just came back from a 2800km trip to Edmonton and back... the trailer, solar system, and van performed as expected. Not sure how much gas I'm saving with the wind deflector, but it's got to help .

Our profile profile pic was taken on Sunset Ridge in Blackstrap Provincial Park in Saskatchewan, which was a nice place to stop for the night.

By for now.

Welcome Henry,
Is that an air dam on top your tow vehicle? Does it improve your handling?

Thank-you Jim,

It's a solar panel acting as an "air dam". I don't notice any difference in handling. It is intended to deflect the air over the trailer while driving, to improve fuel mileage. Judging from the bug splats... it's working. I only get a few splats at the top corners of the trailer front, and many splats on the front face of the awing arms.

Ed, thanks for the link to your improvement. We met briefly at the Winnipeg Boler Anniversary last year and I got to see your improvements first hand. I'm going to try your under-bed-pullout drawer.

Henry

Another indicator that the manual awning arms impact wind resistance?

Henry since you came to the Boler rally last August and know how much fun we fibreglass owners have why not register for the St. Malo FG rally next month? It would be nice to have another Escape there.
