Forum newbie..an Escape in my future

Just placed a deposit on the E19...really amazed at the production timeline...wow. Have had a Casita 16', a Airstream Bambi 19', and most recently a 2013 Airstream 23'FB. The 23' Airstream is going on the market this spring as we just don't need that much size anymore and our TV (2006 Toyota Tacoma 4WD w/tow package) now has over 220,000 miles on it and not getting any younger (just like me). I appreciate forums as I have learned so much from past ones I have followed. Glad to be here.

How did your purchase go? Any Tips as New Yorker?

Hi There,

My wife and i are planning to purchase an Escape - we live near Ithaca NY and LOVE the Adirondacks - we are new to Ithaca (Canadian and a Puerto Rican).

How did the purchase process go - we are hoping to get the 23 when its available (retirement gift to myself and wife). What options struck you as great additions? Thanks Heaps

We would LOVE recommendations of great ways to improve the design

Hi:

It would be AWESOME to learn any great suggestions on how to option/design. We are planning for a 23. We are professional couple (I'm nearing partial retirement and we want to integrate both). BIG internet users for careers.

Any tips on gear (we are pretty geared up for "Glamping" already.

2 pack canoes.

Grandkids (3 -5 years old).

2020 Toyota 4 Runner

Thanks Heaps,
Dennis - Ithaca NY (and a CANUK).

It will be hard to get any feedback on the 23 as no one has seen one yet. First question is will you 2020 4 runner tow a 23' . I not sure on this but do believe its unlikely. Maybe a 19' foot would be a better match for the 4 runner. I think if you plan on packing canoes and grand kids and a 23' trailer I would consider a bigger tow rig. other thing would Be to get your deposit in soon as looks like there booked out until the January of 2023

Until the Escape 23 standard equipment list is released it will be hard to say which options are good for it.

For example the 6.3 cu ft fridge is a great upgrade for the 19, it's standard on the 21NE. The kitchen window is a must have upgrade for the 19, it's standard on the 21NE. Other recommendations you might hear like extra insulation and thermal windows are now standard on all trailers.

I think this comment is still applicable to the 21C or 21NE. You'll likely be pushing the payload capacity of your 4 Runner carrying extra passengers and 2 pack canoes even with an Escape 19.

I tow my 19 foot with a Toyota Tacoma tow capacity of 6500 pounds. A 21C dry weight is 3465 and any options you add with increase the weight. Your 4 runner only has a 5000 pound tow capacity. Myself I would not feel at all comfortable towing with it.

I also tow with a 2013 Tacoma. I avoided the 21 for the same reason . My 19 has a lot of options bringing the weight up. 3723.
with that said it is possible to have a 21c weight less than my my 19 depending on options. I think a person would better to compare based on there options. for example my fridge and kitchen window (about 80lbs) would already be included in the base wight of the 21c .

Dennis

I would spend the wait time you will have looking at the different models. If you call ETI they will give local models to look at . I not sure if there is any 21NE local. I know there is 19's and 21'C .. I came very close to order a 21NE myself. we decided to stick with the 19 for 2 reasons one was my Tacoma v-6 tow rig and the other i wanted the larger table in the 19' . each unit has its advantages and disadvantage . Of the lay outs i like the 21 c best, but it was a deal breaker with teh smaller bed. we had a casita and wanted larger bed and larger table.

here is link to the 21c there selling today, but you have to like green.
