Greetings from a new member!

Hi folks! My name is Harry. I live in Chicago. Several years ago I had a Dodge Ram 3500 Crew Cab Long Bed and an Arctic Fox 30U. Now I have a Honda Fit and live in an apartment. I'm considering maybe going on the road full-time. I was looking into a Casita, (I'd been to their factory twice years ago,) but I found a thread on your forum discussing the differences between an Escape and Casita, and now I'm thinking about an Escape, either the 5.0, the 19, or the 21C. I have a bunch of questions that I'll post in (what I hope will be) the appropriate forum. Thanks. Harry.

Welcome Harry, there's a couple of Escapes in Chicago, one of the owners will likely chime in here soon and offer you a look.

Our last trailer was a 2007 Escape 17B. The previous owner bought it sight unseen off eBay based on Escapes reputation. I really enjoyed that trailer, but I needed a permanent bed. So now we have a 2020 Escape 19. We're very happy with it. It should last us 25 years.

I had someone come to my house to look at our 19. He commented, many people go from a Casita to an Escape, but no one goes from a Escape to a Casita.

Welcome to the Forum.

You won't be able to tow the 5.0 with your Honda Fit, it requires a pickup truck. ;-)

Thanks for the warm welcome! My first question: What is the distance from the bed to the ceiling. (Can't get a feel for that from the photos/diagrams.) Thanks.

Oh no! I thought the Fit had a special tow package. Figured no change needed for a TT, and I could just take the roof off for a fifth wheel hitch.

(Funny but true story: I was in Chiang Mai, Thailand. A motorcycle, the kind used to pull tuk-tuks, was parked right in front of a huge trailer, as if it was waiting to be hitched. There were two guys on the curb next to it. I put my two index fingers together, made a puzzled expression, and they burst out laughing. Talk about a Honda Fit...)

When sitting on the bed without depressing the mattress, the height is 36 inches. Where you lay your head, the heights is 28-29 inches. The floor is slanted a little bit. I have about 4 inches of head room sitting up.

The top of the mattress is about 3'-6 inches off the floor to the top of the mattress.

Maybe you could just put a 5th wheel hitch on the roof like this.

I'd like to thank Steve for going out of his way to show me his 21C. I loved it! If I take this giant step the Escape 21C seems like the perfect trailer to do it.
