Greetings From Ralph and Paulette

Hello! We are the expectant parents of a 21' Escape, due in February 2016. We currengly have a 17' Casita that we bought used in January 2014. We've mostly only done short 3-5 day trips in the Casita, but now with both of us retired we decided a little more space would be nice for the longer and more frequent trips that are planned.

We've been hearing wonderful things about Escape Trailers, so decided to visit Chilliwack while we were in Vancouver on vacation in April. Spent a good 4 hours looking at all the display units and decided to avoid 2-foot-itis and go straight to the 21'. We put in our order in June, and completion is scheduled for late February.

We've been reading this wonderful forum for the last few weeks, trying to decide on options and reading recommendations for various customizations and "unadvertised options". It's been enormously helpful! Still working on our build sheet, but I think we are close to nailing them down (I know, I know, famous last words).

Also enjoyed the lively discussion(s) about tow vehicles. I'll be towing with a 2002 Avalanche, so I think I should be in good shape.

Thanks to everyone for all the tips and suggestions.

Ralph & Paulette

Welcome, you two. There will be so many more options that you will be hearing about. You have plenty of time to look at them. Could be that we knew too much about options from having a 19'. You might be saved some trouble being new to Escapes!

Hi Ralph and Paulette. Welcome to the Escape forum and you did what we did in going to Chilliwack and looking at the trailers. That way you are sure of the right choice. But as far as filling out the build sheet, I felt the previous Escape owners had the advantage. Anyway, the time for picking up your new trailer will be here before you know it. And pick out a good name for it on the back. Loren

Thanks for the welcome! Yeah, we've been discussing names. I like Escape Hatch, but saw that someone else has that. So told Paulette "how about Escape Hitch". She wrinkled her nose and made a funny face, so not sure she's onboard with that one. But hey, I like it.

By the way, how do you get your postings to show "Loren & Cathy" instead of your login ID?

Welcome Ralph and Paulette,
Just go to "User CP" at the top of the page to make your changes, welcome to our little Escape world. Are you having delivery or picking up in February?

Hi Ralph and Paulette!
Welcome and congratulations! I had a year wait for my 17B and now it's only a couple months out. Time does fly!

p.s. Was reminded from a post from CP Harley that there is a rally in September at Niagara Falls, On (Niagara Wine Escape 2015). Good opportunity to see all those customizations and "unadvertised options."

We're going to pick ours up. Save the $3000 delivery fee, plus a good opportunity to plan a long trip out west and north! The return will be our longest camping trip by far. Hopefully the first of many.

By the way, I'm not finding the option to change the name above my "Junior Member" tag on my postings. I tried signature, but that only adds to the end of my post. Do I need to set an avatar to change the name above it?

I think we set up when we opened the account. I just looked at ours and didn't see any place where you can change it.
Perhaps one of the administrators can change it for you...

I believe that the name you registered with cannot be changed.
If it could, we'd have hundreds of duplicate accounts.

I believe an Administrator can change your username for you, which is what displays above your "Junior Member tag." Send a request via the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of this screen. I'm thinking someone will help you with it.

I hope it's not a trend; the Admins will kill me for causing them extra work.

So, Ralph and Paulette, we are ahead of you in the line for the high diving board. My hub and I also recently retired and ordered the 21. (You probably already know about our 21, but I'm trying desperately to get this thread back on track.) Ours is due mid-September; we are just now negotiating our pickup appointment. My advice at this point is not to sign-off on that build sheet until the deadline is close - not to the hour or minute, but not months in advance, either. I'm finding it's hard enough to wait now the build sheet is in... and you never know what might change between now and then.

I'm pretty much a newbie here on Escape Forum, too - so it feels inappropriate to say "welcome." I guess I'll just leave it at

"Howdy!"
