Hello!
Hi there! Long time backpacker, first time RVer. Always looked at hitting the road and seeing more of what is out there, but assumed that would have to wait till retirement. But with the ability to work from home, I figure there’s no better time than now to skip town for a few months at a time, and a travel trailer seems like a wonderful option to do just that and keep working. So much so that my partner and I put a deposit down on an Escape 5.0 last week with ETA October 2023, and thought I’d try to learn some more about everything until then. I’ve got a ton of questions I’d love to ask, from what kind of tow vehicles y’all are using to whether composting toilets are better than the traditional black tank. I can’t tell you how excited I am to have found a fiberglass trailer tall enough to accommodate a 6’4 sasquatch, especially after I’d very neatly settled on a 6’1 Casita

Our trailer is about a 8-month wait for a 5.0 which we get on the 24th of september 2021.
And I went with regular toilet with black tank just for the convenience that I perceived.
I also got the 5.0 with a 12 volt compressor fridge which gave us more storage above the refrigerator.
I did get all of the six walls reinforced and we got the off grid package.

Hello and welcome.
We're mostly first time RV'ers as well. I owned a large cab-over camper and hauled it around in a 3/4ton truck back in the 80's. It was fairly well equipped, with fridge and cooktop, etc. However I've been tent and screened shelter camping since that time.
You should begin to get offers from Escape to move forward in time on the delivery date in the coming months as ETI compacts their schedule. A new one just went out today but if you just joined the waiting list then you probably missed this one.

ETI has said that there is no moving up with a 5.0.

What?
Our completion date has moved up twice in the last two CDR's. I think you're talking about the 2021 delivery at 2022 prices offer. That is not for 5.0's.

As Sasquatch go, 6'-4" is a teenager. Sleeping in Salt Fork State Park around Bigfoot Ridge would be a lot more comfortable in a camper. Safer too according to some of the stories coming out of that park.
I also have a long history of backpacking. I like a trailer now that I have hiked enough to want to slow down.
The composting toilet is a personal choice. I don't want one. Some people love them. We usually use our toilet for liquid waste only. Mostly.
I pull with a Tundra and love it. I love pulling our 5.0 because it is sooooo easy!
Congrats on the 5.0. It really is a great camper. Waiting is hell but at least it's not me waiting. Ask your questions. Some of us love to talk too much.

Welcome, and good choice on the 5.0, I just love mine...best trailer I've ever had for sure. There's nothing else like it on the market. I was on the long waitlist, but then a great used 2017 came up for sale here in Cali so I grabbed it. That happens too, if you want one sooner...
I'm in mine right now working at a campground on Lake Tahoe. I've worked remotely from my different trailers for a lot of years, so if you have any questions about work-specific stuff let me know...cheers!

We bought a brand new 2021 Toyota Tundra to tow our 5.0, with a six and a half foot bed.

You're gonna love it! It is a great combination.
6.5 foot bed means you will turn with ease. Congrats!
Build quality of a Tundra is the absolute best.
