Hello from CT!
Hello--Mike and Dodi here. We are about to put a deposit on a 5.0. We own a Scamp 5th wheel that was demolished by a tree during Isaias. We haven't gotten the insurance determination yet, but we are looking to upgrade. We started looking at Escapes, and loved what we saw. Thanks to Cliff and Judy Hotchkiss in CT for showing us their 5.0 and answering all our questions and then some! Today we found what we think would be the perfect tow vehicle. We are excited to belong to this group and learn as much as we can.

Hi: luvlabs... We have been towing an Escape 5th. wheel since 2008. First a single axle, then a twin axle. IMHO best towing characteristics of any trailer. We show our trailer everywhere we go so get used to it. I'll change my tow vehicle... but not my trailer!!! Alf

Nice comment about your trailer. Do you have an Anderson hitch?

Hi: Salt and Pepper... No Andersen. We have a Husky EZRoller slider hitch... but we don't slide it. No need too! I don't care for the fact that Escape makes a fifth wheel trailer and using an Andersen converts it back to a ball/hitch. Then you need safety chains and need to crawl into the truck box to attach them. At my age I don't climb, crawl, or get down and dirty very well.
Here's a pic of being hooked up to our former Nissan Frontier tug. We have now had this hitch in 3 different tugs, with 2 diff. Escape trailers!!! Alf

i use safety chains (Anderson hitch) and do not crawl into the back of my truck. i have them reversed attached (stay in the truck click to the side of the truck when not hitched) just snap on the rings when i hitch up- no need to get into the truck.

Hi: Fox hunt... Trouble with the new Ram EcoDiesel 4X4 is it's to high for me to reach. I do like the Andersen for it's light weight though!!! I always carry some lite beer. Alf

I'm only 5' 2 ' so i need a step stool to hook up anyway just to reach the hitch lock and power plug. With the step stool i can easily reach the chains.

my truck is not big - a regular fifth wheel hitch would take up too much payload
