Nice that you were able to find a nice used one that lets you start enjoying an Escape sooner than later.

I've been putting together a "Ron's Top Ten" mod list and I can tell you, no contest for the #1, is the under bed storage crate mod.

No trying to lift the hatch under the mattress and full utilization of the under bed space. The bins hold far more than you could randomly stuff in and they separate the area into 3 separate areas. One, on the bathroom side for things like shoes, two, the main crate storage area, and, three, the area accessible from the exterior hatch with the crates forming a "back wall" for the area.

Yep, lots of opinions on this forum, you just have to sort out what's important to you.

Ron

A big yes for foot flush and Mike already is planning to start on the under bed storage after the toilet switch. I love all the mod’s people have done, and command strips, Elfa pantry (when on sale in January), and bungee’s for medicine cabinet are also on the list. Thank you for the suggestions. Now we need to sell a toilet and our current trailer.

I look forward to seeing Ron’s top 10 Mods!!

Hi Ron,
I think the under bed storage rack will be one of my first mods. Is there’s track under the bed and if so would it be possible for you to send photos and/or provide more information. I will be picking up my 212C on January 19 th 2023.
Thanks

The simplest version of the under-bed 3 crates is to take 3 large milk crates, and connect them end to end with heavy duty tie wraps, then slide them in the opening. 3 of the 24 quart crates are exactly the room available on a 21C, and no rails are needed.

Thanks John for the quick response and that’s easy enough.

We travel with TWO large stovetop expresso makers so that we don't have to share the first coffee of the day.

Charlie you started us on this path. You generously showed us your 21C last summer. We were hoping to get the 23 then, but we did put a deposit on a 21C with your name on it that was scheduled for November 2023. A pristine trailer with all the bells and whistles came up for sale in Corvallis and we were able to get one a year earlier and a few dollars cheaper. Sorry you didn’t get whatever Escape gives for being a local Ambassador, but we appreciated your great hospitality in showing us your trailer and modifications.

You might want to swing by again and take a look at my toilet while you're considering. Sealand 311 I think, ceramic bowl and an elongated residential soft close seat. Quite comfy!

With a porcelain throne, is it even camping any more?

We ordered a Dometic 311, and it looks like it is the same company. We won’t get it for a few weeks, but will add pics to the toilet conversion thread when it is finally installed. Mike is working on the bed and under storage, but found a few construction issues with supports, so it is good that we are doing this before we slept on it and maybe had more problems. We are going to paint the plywood and add a Froli system for ventilation and prevent mildew. We are not able to camp until Jan or Feb, so are having fun with some mods.

Yup, Dometic bought Sealand around 2002, same outfit now. Sometimes sold as a Dometic Sealand brand toilet.

My kids don’t think there is anything about this trailer that resembles their dispersed camping choices. I personally am all for the porcelain throne, and loved the Dometic in our previous trailer.
