Question Hello from the rainforest!

Perhaps I should have said hello from the mudforest, since we have an Austrailian Shepherd pup. My fiancé and I are a middle aged couple ready to be done with the tent camping, and after much research, it looks like an Escape is far and away the best option out there. Thanks to all of you kind people posting in forums, which have led us to this understanding.
The only thing I am still wondering about the Escape, is how it handles going "off-road," meaning on roads that are only paved with gravel or dirt? We are wanting to do some boondocking. I am not sure if there is an off-road package we can order as an option, or if that is something that must be done at a shop afterwards, or if it's even necessary, as they seem to be very well built (though I am unsure about the clearance and the suspension).

Looking forward to checking out all of your trailer pics!
Thanks again for sharing the camper joy!

Welcome aboard, Rockhound.

We have an Aussie pup who is nearing 7 years old. Still young at heart. He goes with us almost everywhere our trailer does.

Escape trailers will do great off pavement, ours travels on gravel and dirt roads to most places we camp, and have never had trouble with that. Very good clearance.

Do have a look around on the site, and read lots of great info in past threads. This will help give you an idea of what all you can do option wise with a new Escape. Great folks to deal (and party) with.

Welcome indeed. Escape is the right choice. Like you we tent camped for years, and now we're 'Past Tents' (the name of our trailer).

Escapes have decent ground clearance with the Torflex suspension. They used to offer "high-lift" axles as an option, but now they're standard. We do have a commercial member of the forum who goes by the moniker of widgetwizard, who is developing an aftermarket suspension system you could install on an Escape. I don't know where he is in the development, or if the system he is developing would increase the clearance, but here is his profile. You could always send him a message.

Thanks, all! The more I learn about this brand vs others, the more perfect it seems. Hopefully by the time we are ready to order one, they will come with a better fridge and freezer option, because that seems to be the only flaw in an otherwise dreamy camper.

And it's all good depending on your level of expectation. Just know you won't be home mowing the law or vacumming the livingroom or whatever.

So many of us here come from backpacking, carcamping, tent backgrounds... it's all good. You're out making memories!

Welcome, our situations our very close to each other. My wife purchased a Casita 3.5 years ago after tent camping, and also getting rained out numerous times in our wet weather. Our Aussie pup turns 8 this month and she still has a very high energy level. Absolutely amazing dogs!! We pick up our Escape 5.0TA in 2 months and couldn't be happier with choosing this brand. Take a trip up to the factory, you will be glad you did! I wouldn't worry to much about the fridge, I don't think that it's as big of an issue as it may seem. Best of luck in making your decision. Bob
