Yeah! Which ones are you wondering about. There are a number of 5.0 owners around that will be more than happy to chime in.

These guys (non gender specific term) helped me a lot and I could not be happier (buying almost every option). For sure get the solar!

Boulder Co. I love Boulder WY and Pinedale. I am trying to get one more trip into Green River Lakes before the snow flies. Not sure it is going to work.

Had a strange animal story at Warren Bridge Nat. Rec. Area on my way to pick up the 5.0. I was making coffee on the tailgate at 4 am in complete darkness when something started growling and panting at me from 30 yards away. I left! It sounded big!

Jackson is 6 hours and 45 minutes from my driveway. Yes, that same driveway that I glamp in!

Now what about those options?

We took a one-on-one tour yesterday and Harrison told us about an option to put a second Maxx fan instead of an AC unit in the second vent space. Since 95% of our camping is boondocking, we like that idea. ( It runs on the battery.) Thoughts?
Also, free-standing solar vs roof-mounted?

This was just discussed in detail in another thread. There is a big group that agrees with this approach. My point was; just last week we were in Zion N.P. in 106° temperatures and fortunately we had a hook up. We had never tried the air conditioning until that day. It worked great and we were grateful to have it. I cannot imagine getting caught in that without AC. There would be no way to escape it except to go for a car ride.

Same for the heating strips. Probably overkill but when a storm blew thru a few weeks ago and the temps dropped, we flipped them on. I like them!

We boondock too (mostly) but have developed a strategy for purchasing a hook up now and then, if for no other reason than to dump black water and go out again. We stayed at the Ouray KOA so we could just drive to Orvis Hot Springs. We got lucky and could fit into a nice little slot and had nice neighbors. Some of the other sections were frightening (big high political signs on huge Class A buses)!

So we do both (a little). Solar is a must for boondocking. We got two panels. If you can get away from lead acid batteries, I would look very hard at that. We did not have the option. Hands down Lithium is the best. I would get at least two.

So the MaxxFan is great at blowing down and a little into the kitchen area. Ours is always on since we have solar power. No big deal.

Someone recommended this fan and I bought it and plug it into the USB connection. This blows horizontally. With the combination of the MaxxFan blowing up and down and this blowing across the trailer, you can control the air flow nicely. You can flip it around at night when you sleep or move it.

We clip it to the curtain rod for the bedroom. It is almost always on. Battery powered too so you never worry about this one!

Keep in mind I represent the far end of the scale. After considering much more expensive campers and then finding Escape (with the currency exchange), we bought every options they offered, except the stereo. Cause mine is better! Ha! We also passed on the additional full length closet at the door. One is enough. I like the counter anyway. Others put more consideration into what they need versus what they want. I just went to what I want. And now Love! I hope that's confusing!

Free standing could mean free walkaway, stick with roof mount, safe and out of the way storage and works sunny day.

Do both. You can get roof mounted, along with a port for a free-standing array.

The thing I like about two root top mounts is you set it and forget it.

Once in a while, get up there and clean them. You always have power unless the Sun does not come up.
