Looking at 19's

Hello,

My wife and I own a Casita 17 SD.

We have been thinking about the Escape 19. I really like the floorplan but haven't seen any Escapes in person.

We would love to look at any Escape 19's near Omaha, NE or just about anywhere in Iowa or Missouri.

Give ETI a call to set you up for a look at a 19. ETI has a list of owners willing to show.
That’s what we did, and you end up with one not too far from where you live.
And once seen one, you are hooked!
Best wishes.

Well...I already contacted them and they one they suggested was about 300 miles away. I know there are some closer.

We were hoping someone would see our post and offer.

I'm in O'Fallon, MO and have a 2017 19'. A pretty long trip but happy to show you.

Some Escape owners have placed themselves on the "Owners Map" (see the item on the forum page, just under the title graphic). One 2012 19' owner is listed in Omaha: RVOmaha. I have no idea if they are interested in showing their trailer, but you could contact them by Private Message or e-mail.

RV Omaha showed us their 19 before we pulled the trigger on our 21. We live in Lincoln, NE and would be happy to show ours even though its not the model your're interested in.

If you contact Escape again, mention that Des Moines is not that far away. We purchased a 19 in May of this year and we are on the referral list from Escape. You could private message me.

Worst case scenario and you are unable to view a 19... we bought ours without ever having seen an Escape and are completely happy. Beyond happy, thrilled, and extremely frustrated at present because I'm not retired yet so we've only had it out once. The three nights we've spent in it were a slice of heaven. It's parked in our driveway now, so we hang out inside and talk about all the places we're going next spring. Happy campers here, who took the plunge sight unseen!

I would agree with the last post we bought are 2014 21' a few months ago never seeing the inside of one. We also had a 17' SD Casita that we loved but wanted more space. We just showed ours to a couple that was trying to decide between a 19' and a 21'. They stopped to see a 19' on way to me, as soon as they stepped inside the 21' they were sold. They like myself cannot believe how much extra space you get so that is the only thing I would say you should consider. maybe 21'? They don't really cost anymore, either way you can't go wrong with an Escape in my opinion.

Good luck in your search.

Steve

Other than getting used to driving great distances which you will do upon acquiring an Escape, you can purchase sight unseen (I bought my first two that way) or wait until the Mississippi Rally held every fall to see a bunch of Escapes and then there is the granddaddy of rallies, Escape's annual owner appreciation held in May in Osoyoos, BC which is maybe 3 hours from the factory. You can attend the rally and mosey over the the factory and put in your order.....all in one trip.

The 19 vs. 21 question comes down to two things for us. Can more people sleep in a 21? We have grandkids and like the front dinette idea (on paper anyway). With that, we think we can nicely sleep four people.

The other is the tow vehicle. I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a V6. We love it, bought it new, have the lifetime warranty and don't intend to get rid of it. 90% of its use has been towing the Casita.

We will definitely want to see the 21 before committing however! I'm a patient buyer and we aren't in any hurry yet. I do retire in about four years though and I will be ready to go then!

Sounds like we are at the same place in life, part of the reason we wanted bigger was so when our now two grandsons come camping with us we have a bed and more space for them. We know this would only be once or twice a year but that's ok the extra space is always nice. I also hope to retire completely in 4 years, semi doing that now but can't really travel much without the better half and she cannot retire yet. Well I guess I could but then she would be jealous and don;t want that .
I tow our 21' with a 2012 V6 4WD Pathfinder and like you plan to drive it until its dead already has 200,000 miles on it. Really have no problem towing the Escape at all, I think the dual axle makes a lot of difference, tow capacity on Pathfinder is 6,000 pounds.
We also like the not climbing over each other factor with the bed in the 21'.
Do you plan to order new or look for used? If used I would suggest placing an add in the looking for section on this site, our Grover found us from my add.

Good luck in your search and safe travels,

Steve

We would likely buy used. That's what we did with the Casita. I am pretty good at taking on other peoples problems and making them shine!

A new one would be chosen if the difference between new and used prices isn't wide enough to make it make sense.

Just remember the new 2ndG models post 2016 are about 1-200 lbs heavier.

The 19 vs. 21 question comes down to two things for us. Can more people sleep in a 21?

The 19' will sleep five (two of them should be children) as it has the optional bunk over the dinette which holds up to 200 lbs. The 21' will sleep four but the dinette is bigger in the 21' so the bed there will be a bit larger as well.

Burtim,
We have a 2010 19' trailer and will be staying overnight in the Omaha area on November 19, on the way from Sioux Falls, SD to Lawrence, KS. We are glad to show it to you when we are in the area, and to explain some of the changes in the 19' trailers over the years. I will send you a Private Message with our contact information.

Yep. We aren't in a really big hurry though. We also have a trailer and (possibly) Boston Whaler boat to sell first!
