Question New & figuring out my options

Hello! My husband and I are just starting our search for the perfect trailer and so far the Escape is #1. One question though. Does anyone know if Escape allows you to remove standard items?

Due to back problems, we'd love to put in our own tried and true mattress and I'd hate to pay for the Escape mattress and then get rid of it.

Also since we're interior designers, we can be overly particular about some things. We'd love to build our own cabinet doors and put in wood flooring instead of vinyl.

Anyone know if it's possible to remove some standard features?

My suggestion would be to call them and explain what you would like to do.

They are quite accommodating and friendly too.

Welcome Ell,
To our little Escape world. You really need to lay on an Escape mattress, it is a residential mattress. With the 21NE it is a queen sized bed. I believe you can delete the mattress. As far as flooring, there ae several wood like options available and it covers the entire trailer everywhere, under bed and cabinets and storage areas.. You can always add a wood floor afterwards in the the aisles, but remember weight is your towing enemy.

From what I've seen you may well be able to delete things but the cost savings is minimal. Do give them a call, what they are willing to do, or not do, changes.

Before deciding to delete the mattress, go look at an Escape if you can and ask to lie on the bed. The mattress in my 19 is extremely comfortable. I too have back problems, and this mattress is incredible. I feel better after a night on it than I do on the one in my home. It is a full size mattress, not just a thick pad like on a lot of RVs.

That said, I’m pretty sure you would be able to delete it.

Last July when I ordered for October pickup, there was no cost savings for eliminating the mattress, but I'd check with ETI, as things may have changed since then. Because of fibromyalgia, I added a 3" latex topper, which lets me sleep comfortably.

You need to try the mattress supplied as they are very comfortable. I’ve had back surgery and this was a big concern for us. I sleep great on the mattress Escape provided.

I was quoted a cost savings for eliminating the mattress when converting a dinette to a permanent bed but as mentioned, it wasn't a lot. But yes, they will do it. But check the measurements for your bed as you may not be able to use your own mattress in some spaces. Some of the trailers have shorter beds than common residential sizes.

Trying one out doesn't always tell you enough- I could sleep on anything for one night but by three or four nights my back is killing me if the mattress is not right.

I agree. The mattress in our 5.0TA is as good if not better than our mattress at home. Easily! And we got a good one at home!

I would consider carefully on that one.
