New Escape 19 Owner in Davis, CA

Hey Everyone!

We just picked up a new to us 2016 Escape 19 from another member here and after 2 camp weekends we are loving it! Our family consists of my wife, myself, our 2 daughters (4yo and 6yo) and our black lab, Journey. It’s cozy in the 19, but after ground tents for years the Escape is luxury. We are currently towing with a 2017 Toyota Tacoma DCLB, but will be most likely stepping up to the Tundra eventually.

Anyways, thanks for having me and in advance for all of the help I’m sure you all will give me!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! Camping with the family is the absolute best, especially when it involves mountain biking.

Welcome! Nice to have another owner here in NorCal...and that's a nice looking 19. Speaking of biking, what kind of bike rack do you have on the back there? I'm in the market for one myself so I'm shopping around...

That’s a beautiful trailer. I remember seeing it for sale. Best of luck with it and have fun!

Thanks! I went with a 1-Up rack. It's really nice and I’ve been happy with it. I went with the Heavy Duty model which is rated to go on a trailer (2 bikes max) and the variable insertion depth into the hitch works well with clearing the spare tire on the trailer. The stronger Super Duty model is also trailer rated (which may be better if ebikes are a possibility; the Heavy Duty can be upgraded to the Super Duty- it's just an aluminum bar added). Note the new Equip-D model is not rated for RV use. I found this comparison sheet useful when choosing: https://www.1up-usa.com/compare-racks/

Thank you, we’re really enjoying it! We had been looking all over the Western US for a used one and had a build date of Nov 2022 for a new 21NE, and then this one popped up an hour from us so we jumped on it. We love it and it really did fit our budget better.

I just followed your build thread. There’s a few things I want to copy, so thanks for sharing!
