Our New 13 (Our Hobbit House) In the Snow

Picked up our New Trailer on Friday April 12, 2013
It tows very easy. Even better than the older tent trailer.

Did some quick learning about Electric Trailer Brakes.
Dave from Escape trailers were very helpful in setting up the trailer brakes.

Had a full Orientation with Dave, that lasted about 4 hours.

Left Chilliwack at about 1pm in the afternoon, and drove through the Fraser Canyon.
Nice Drive, Stopped occasionally to stretch and walk the dog, then up to Prince George.

Entering Prince George around 7pm, it started to snow.
About 10 minutes later, after we made the turn off to go West to Terrace, it REALLY started to snow heavily.
Traffic slowed down to about 40Km and the highway went from 2 lanes to 1. Blizzard and white-out conditions.

Fortunately we were prepared for this type of conditions and had left our studded snow tires on for the trip. However, with most of the other drivers on the road, slipping and sliding everywhere, it seemed that they had not.

We stopped at an RV park that was open, and stayed the night.

The next morning we woke up to about 3 to 4 inches of snow.

By about noon, it had warmed up considerably and most of the snow was gone.

The trip from Prince George to Terrace was uneventfull.

Enjoy the photos.

Congratulations .......looks great ! .... that would be an adventurous drive and quite a " comfort test " for a first night . It does look like it's melting in the last pic.

comsult - quite an experience to start enjoying your 13! We are looking pretty seriously at an Escape (probably a 5.0) as we are retiring this year and moving to Emerson, MB (family there). We don't plan on doing "winter" camping but in case we get into snow like you - did you keep toasty warm inside?

Guess you're still waiting for spring in Terrace, like most of the country - we had big ice storm Friday here northwest of Toronto with 16hr power failure - still waiting for balance of winter snow to melt in our yard!

"Snug as a bug in a Rug" No problems inside the trailer, We were warm and with the Roof Vent cracked, No humidity problems either.
Good luck with your trailer hunting.
Greg.

Wow---what an introduction to your new trailer...
But I'll bet you were happy with the furnace and the nice comfy confines...

If you didn't go camping because of the weather, you would never go camping at all.

Winter never really came to Terrace this year. We were able to get our 19 out of storage April 2nd. Last year at this time there were 4 feet of snow in front of it and we didn't get at it until the end of May, just in time to get it ready for the Osoyoos rally. We may even do a bit of early camping this year although most of the parks don't open until May 15th.
