Reserved a 5.0 today

After spending last summer seeing as many trailers as possible we finally swallowed hard and reserved a 5.0. We'll pick it up in July and mosey back to Rhode Island during July and August.

Special thanks to Alf & Mary Anne for their special hospitality this past summer for rendezvousing on the road in New Hampshire and showing their trailer.

I've been lurking for some time and appreciate the kindness and knowledge of everyone here. I'm sure I'll have many questions so thanks in advance for your help.

Tim (and Lynne)

Congrats on your upcoming 5,0. It should be a great inaugural trip all the way back to Rhode Island.

Hi: onetim... Welcome to the world of fine "glass"!!! Hope your anticipation is short and your trips are long.
It was our pleasure to meet up with you and your son too. We were truly amazed at the Wheelock Pk. in downtown Keene NH. You sure don't find to many Cities with a park like this!!! We'll have to camp together sometime, some where. Alf

Thanks folks.

I'm a long time backpacker and have never owned a trailer before so I am somewhat clueless on what options I should order up front. I figure anything is bound to be more comfortable than sleeping in a bivy sack or under a small tarp.

After lurking here for about a year I am thinking of ordering the following options:

Extra insulation and thermal windows
Spray on foam under-belly insulation (without the heaters?)
Air conditioner

Solar panels
6v batteries
LED's (interior and exterior)

Extra window over sink
Bathroom window

I'll trust Reace's judgement on everything else because I don't know enough to start tinkering with what I suppose are tried and true standard features.

The price is somewhat frightening but I guess I'm preaching to the choir here when it comes to the value of trailer-camping (tramping?).

Hi: onetim... Yes "The price is somewhat frightening"... but you will never regret buying quality. Long after you forget the price... you still have the quality. Most of today's options we're not even thought of when our trailer was built. The exterior storage access hatch is a good example. Escapes have evolved with the customer in mind!!! Just imagine what a great base camp you'll have to go out "TRAMPING". Alf
