My final post on this.....I'm pretty sure or hope they have planned this renovation with the idea of moving from X units per year to a higher Y units. And with no production dates currently open, now is a perfect time to start a waiting list....

If it's any help, the pickup date of mid July , 2016, for our 21 was pushed up to mid May, 2016. We accepted that, and now they are asking us for a mid Feb.date. We don't want it that early, so will stay with the mid May. Seems their schedule does change, so be flexible. We're glad we could do so.

Yes, I agree with Mary, when buying my first Escape I had made my entire payment up front and they had a cancellation and my slot was filled, just 3 months after payment. So if you are serious about buying you may get lucky. Plus with the exchange rate the way it is, it is like getting interest of 25% on your money.

This is a niche market and I don't think that ETI will have any problem accommodating the folks that are waiting for orders to open, especially with the improved capacity. Building the new separate "fiberglass building" and improving the lines will probably cut the production time on trailers as well which will allow more production dates. There are more used Escapes hitting the market than ever before and it will increase as some of the 2016 trailers get built and trade-up buyers need to sell their current trailer. It is frustrating to wait, but I learned a ton during that wait that changed my build sheet several times and resulted in a better end product for our family.

Hi: Tford... If it were me... I'd be buying Canadian dollars and putting them into a separate account. Then when the time comes to place the order U R prepared and have secured a monetary discount too!!! Alf

Alf,

That may or may not be a successful strategy.
Dollar continues to sink, along with the price of oil. Dollar was $73.60 US yesterday. OPEC is not putting a cap on oil production because others aren't capping production. OPEC will wait it out, and that could take a year or two. OPEC oil is cheaper to produce.
Governor of the Bank of Canada was musing about perhaps having to use negative interest rates if things don't turn around.
Lots of bad news for Canadians.

I think that I should start socking my Cdn $ away for when I upgrade to a 5.0TA in a couple of years. Anyone know when Escape may start taking orders for their 2026 model year?

Hi: gbaglo... If you do it a few G's at a time you kinda get a cost average rate.
What can I say...I was never any good with money. I do have a lot of big boy toys though. Alf

I've been watching my mutual fund drop for the past week.
It was $15.47 about three months ago and is at $13.91.
Since the fund is all register retirement fund, I console myself that it's the government that is losing taxes.

I try hard not to look when they are dropping, have unfortunately gotten a good deal of practice at it over the last 30+ years.

The pros say to look at the drops as an opportunity to buy more of the funds. Not easy to do when you're retired and needing to use the money from them.

I have watched a few years of retirement fade away lately. Oh well, it will come back, I think, I guess, someday, hopefully.

I suppose there are other options.
Escape could ramp up production by limiting options and/or decreasing quality, they could also raise prices till demand slows.
I don't really care for those though.

61 is not too far off for me. Better get living, despite the drop in my retirement funds. Better they drop, than I do.

Anytime you get wobbly and think another brand might be ok, just take a trip to the local RV Superstore off the interstate and kick the tires on their stock (but watch out, something might fall off!.). Time will go by before you know it!

One good thing about aging that I have found is that I can't drink as much as I used to so my liquor bill has gone down. Watch that Bucket List movie, read the obits in your local paper for 5 days and average the ages. Then go to the store, stock up and go camping or at least cook a meal outside and have a campfire you can stare into. You'll feel better. There are no pockets in a casket and no Brinks trucks following hearses.
