Allstate Insurance
Anyone have Allstate for their Escape? We have it on everything and since I have tried to put my new 5.0 TA on...they can't seem to get it right. First they listed it as a no name Escape with regular vehicle coverage (probably Ford Escape). Went back to my agent and while he was shaking his head said he would get it fixed. Next they listed it as an Escort, but as a rider package.
In the past I had a Casita, Perris Pacer and Airstream Argosy on the policy without a problem. He agent says, " well it's okay, it is still covered". Haha, bet if something happened the company wouldn't take care of it.
I'm going back to the agent Monday, but does anyone have a suggestion to get Allstate to get this right?

Do you think they think they have insured a gutted Ford Escape that is "being used as a trailer"?
Mostly what I'm reading is No Coverage.
What are you covered for? If you get rear-ended, No?

The agent understood it is a travel trailer and had covered our previous Scamps which also had a name recognition issue. The Escape has Collision and Comprehensive coverage - covers wrecks, fire, theft. There is no uninsured motorist, property damage or bodily injury coverage as that would be covered under the tow vehicle coverage.

Insurance agents scare me. I never have confidence in what they tell me and I'm not willing to hire a lawyer to read my policy, so I just continue, confident in my understanding, for what that's worth, which is nothing.

I have State Farm and they had a hard time accepting that the make and model were simply Escape 21. I finally had to bring in all the paperwork and show them where that was "all" it was called. I guess they were used to models having names like "Bighorn Explorer Deluxe Super-Light XLT."

Hi: gbaglo... Exactly!!! With the "Good hands" folks the Co. is owned by the share holders. With our Mutual Ins. Co. it's owned by the policy holders. Feel better being insured with a group of like minded people. No collisions = lower rates. Retired = lower rates!!! Alf

Glenn and Alf, here in sunny MB (we've not had rain forever it seems) we are forced to go with our government insurance. So no more "Grey Power" for us like when we lived in ON, BUT we did get the very best rating a plus 15 which means we get 33% off our insurance for the car and truck plus our yearly license renewal is $15. To compare the very worst driver (minus 15) gets no discount on insurance and has to pay yearly $2500 for his or her license, so even if you don't own a car as a poor driver you likely can't even afford to rent because you still need that very expensive license!
And one more thing about gov't insurance - no shopping around for the best rate, I do like that.
Adrian
