Just FYI - exchange rate is now moot for US customers - all US customer transactions with ETI are denominated in USD throughout the process, ETI's Canadian TD Bank account for US customers is denominated in US dollars, there is no currency conversion at all for the US customer or their bank.
Yes, the same holds for 'small-amount payments' via ETI's online payment system (handled by "Stripe") using your credit/debit card - it's an all USD transaction, your card company has no opportunity for gaining a currency-conversion windfall.
Yes, that's different from 2014 (noting the year of your trailer), but it's the 'immutable rules of the transaction' with ETI now for US customers, like it or not. There's simply no reason to involve TransferWise at all.
BTW, I had the same experience as kathytony1985 - my
local small-town bank had no problems wiring to ETI's TD Canada Bank USD Account, receipt was confirmed by ETI in hours.
