Maryland Tags and Title: painless

I picked up my Escape21 in Chilliwack (actually Sumas) last week, on Apr 21. In advance of this event I needed to get tags and registration from my home state of Maryland. Here's a report on this endeavor.

I had no problem getting my Maryland tags and title with the paperwork provided by the escape folks (cert of origin and bill of sale). I went to the DMV in Frederick and was there about an hour in all with the majority of the time spent sitting and waiting for my number to be called.

From reading other posts related to this topic I cringed when the official looked at the cert of origin, appeared to be puzzled, and then went away to talk to another person, presumably a supervisor. But she returned shortly and proceeded matter-of-factly. She computed the tax on the US$ price on the bill of sale with no need for me to intervene.

Competence at a DMV? How refreshing.

Excellent, John!

We had a similar experience in Eureka, CA., although we did not get our plate in advance. We had our Escape sitting outside for VIN inspection, but the routine went exactly as you describe. Congratulations

Good to hear you had no issues. Maybe with the proper paperwork and the updated VIN process, registering a trailer will be easier for all. Have my fingers crossed.
