Tipping delivery person
I am going to get the 21 foot delivered to my home in a few days. Is it customary to tip the delivery man? If so, how much?

I don't know if it's customary, but I gave him $50 in Canadian (he's from Canada). I had it left over from a trip up there and he didn't act like it was out of the ordinary to tip him. If you get the same driver as I did, he's a character and did a great job.

I guess if you tip all delivery drivers (UPS, FedEx, etc.) then this should be no exception.

This is nothing like tipping a general delivery driver. The guy has a very expensive piece of equipment to unload and, in my case, it wasn't an easy job, as the ground wasn't level. I don't have a problem being generous with people who help me, especially with a once in a lifetime delivery. Your analogy is seriously flawed.

I did, $50 sounds about right. Tipping is an individual thing, depends what's customary for you. And yes, I do tip delivery folks, furniture and such, Fed-ex, no.

Tipping delivery person
As long as it's not 10 or 15 percent of value.
You are after all paying quite a premium for delivery. I would think either a $50 tip or a nice gift would be appropriate for delivering it unscathed.

Seriously flawed??
Interstate truck drivers have a hard job. We all work hard. We should all be tipped.

Beware the tipper:
My wife and I had a chance to visit our daughter and son-in-law in Australia about 10 years ago. They were working there for just a year. We took the chance and had an excellent trip. Unknown to us, Australia has a no-tip attitude. We went out and had an excellent pizza. I tried to tip the waiter and got the response, "What's this for mate?"
Australia also has no pennies. They round to the nickel. That makes a lot of sense.

OK, I get it. You're wishing everyone were treated like you get treated. If you were to deliver an Escape to my house, I would give you a good tip regardless.

FWIW...we shipped our belongings coast to coast via PODS. When it was delivered we tipped the driver.
Our vehicles were also shipped....tipped him also.
At Christmas we give the garbage man a little something...
it shows appreciation...not the amount but the thoughtfulness of the job

What about tipping Manfred when he delivers our trailers across the border? Yikes, I never thought about that until reading this thread!

Every Christmas we tip the garbage collector, and the paper delivery person and the mail carrier.
Through out the year I tip my barber, and my waiters and bartenders and occasionally my barista.
Who and why we tip I believe to be a personal choice. Dentists and Doctors don't get tips, but maybe they should, after all, Doctors deliver babies. Mechanics don't get tipped yet they fix our cars (in most cases a very expensive item). Teachers don't get tips yet they teach our kids and so on and so on.
Reace and Tammy probably don't get tipped either.
It's probably best to not tip a Politician.

My grandmother said she didn't vote, it only encouraged them.
In fact she was a staunch democrat and never missed a chance to vote.

Here's a tip, stay out of dark alleys.
I tip certain delivery services that are custom ordered. Furniture, dishwasher, etc.. I always tip the pizza delivery guy pretty good, since I use to be in his shoes. I picked mine up in Chilliwack, but probably would have tipped around $100 CAN for a cross country delivery, unless the driver is an owner operator.

His name is Dave and he likes Italian food, after traveling the number of days he has to make your delivery, I'm sure a nice restaurant meal would be appreciative. I gave him cash and told him where there was one that had a large parking lot for his long truck trailer combo.
