That brings up the issue of CA registration. If you search back through the discussions on this forum, I think you'll find that the current consensus was that the best solution is to stop at the Mt. Shasta City DMV (Exit 738-Lake Ave off of I-5, NE of I-5 1 block to 154 Morgan Way, in a small shopping center), because they know what's going on and you can walk out with your new license plate & reg.
(By contrast, we registered in Ventura County: took 3 trips to DMV and many, many hours of time).
