Victron 100/30 MPPT Solar Charge Controller, Amazon $129

I noticed that Amazon has a great deal on the Victron 30A MPPT solar charge controller. It's currently selling for $129. A few of the other Victron MPPT products are on sale as well:

Could be a good time to "upgrade".

Yes, I ordered one the other day, in anticipation of adding solar/lithium to our 5.0 after we pick it up in March.
Also noticed the Renogy 100 watt solar panel currently on sale for $70.50 (after promo code): https://slickdeals.net/f/17071903-re...-free-shipping

The seller is Inverters R US. On Ama.zo.n they routinely sell used returns & refurbished Victron components as "new" items. I bought 2 "NEW" Victron MPPT charge controllers--each had over 1000 hours on them. They refused to replace these with actual NEW charge controllers until I contacted Victron--who verified the units were used and ended up sending me 2 new replacements.

Actually, there are six sellers selling it at this price. Inverters-R-Us is one of them. Amazon auto selects the default seller based your location, but you can change it. For me, the default seller is "JBTools".

Renogy's Amazon Store has the 100 w panel with a separate controller for $74.99

I'm still leaning towards the foldable 100 w version for storing during travel. It's twice the price though.

And, if you venture off Amazon, there's PKYS Inc., an excellent vendor in my experience. My go-to source for Victron & BlueSea components. FWIW forum member Jon Vermilye has reported multiple times here that he's enjoyed good service from PKYS, too.

https://shop.pkys.com/victron-energy...bluetooth.html

(though their 'free-shipping' FAQ mentions 'cheapest method' and '5-11 days', every one of the many 'free-shipping' orders I've placed with PKYS has arrived within ~3 days via FedEx)

Highly recommended, just for your consideration.

You need to ask yourself, "Where will I store the panel and it's respective legs?"

Didn't want the panel exposed, nor worry about the legs, so the folding Renogy portable in a great case was the best choice for us. Nearly 5 years later that extra money to enclose the panels in a great case has worked quite well for us. I'm sure we would have broken at least one exposed panel by now.

With our 5.0 I had opened the top step and installed a false floor. The Renogy portable in its case fit perfectly in the lower space and had at least a 1/2" of space below the false floor. We stored shoes in the upper space.

Food for thought,

Perry

I do like the safety of the case and the compactness of the foldable 100W. With the 21C I'm just not sure where I would store it inside and the truck bed and rear seat area of our truck gets pretty full.

Would laying on the bed work or do you think it would get bounced off going down the road?

This can get as bad as deciding on your build sheet. Decisions, Decisions

If you have a wardrobe without shelves some foldable panels will fit in there. I had to raise the clothing rod about a half an inch and it holds foldable 120 watts.

Guessing that if your choice of roads to tow on results in bouncing a suitcase solar panel off the bed, then you will probably have several other adverse outcomes to add to the acrobatic solar panel.

Everything that’s heavy has stayed on the bed travelling. Light stuff sometimes bounces off.
