2012 Upgraded Escape 5.0

For Sale, 2012 Escape 5.0

Here's your chance to own one of the best fiberglass trailers made. With a dry weight of 2650 lbs., gross weight of 4400 lbs., pretty much any pickup truck can tow it with ease...even the higher-clearance off-road trucks! Since it's under 7 feet wide, it's about the same width as your truck, so you don't have to worry about fitting between those one-lane construction barriers or getting sucked in by a tractor trailer. At 20 feet long, you have a world of possibilities. City driving, narrow roads, parking lots, tight turnarounds, and of course those out-of-the-way camping spots...no problem!

How's the gas mileage you ask? If we're doing the speed limit, we only lose about 3 to 4 mpg. In fact, even at a pretty good clip, the worst we got was about 5 less than normal. Pretty great for a home on wheels!

We've added significant upgrades both during the initial build and after, to make it even better:

Black Tank Rinse with Dual Water Feed (shore water or internal water tank)

Pictures not enough? Want to see it? Take a virtual tour with our video at Escape 5.0 Modifications and Walkthrough - YouTube

Everything listed totaled over $37,000 (not including taxes or shipping). We've kept excellent care of our memory-maker, and though we'll be very sad to see her go, life unfortunately changed, forcing our hand. Escape Industries is no longer making the single axle version, so you can't even get our model anymore, which means higher tolls for you on the road. We're asking $30,000 for this majorly upgraded, vacation ready beauty. One thing is for sure, you're going to make friends on the road with this fifth-wheel. Everyone asks about it wherever we go. Just make sure that when they say, "It's so cute!" you respond with, "No, it's SPORTY!" I know you'll love it. We definitely do! I can be contacted either through here, or email my username here at gmail.com

I couldn't seem to edit the post, but wanted to highlight the virtual tour. Also, there have been no pets and no smoking in here.

Thanks for posting the video. It gives lots of ideas for mods and is well done.

I wish I could buy a 5.0 but I'm told I can't put a hitch in the composite bed of my Tacoma.

Good luck with your sale.

**............. literally. You CAN put a 5th wheel hitch in a composite bed of a Tacoma. Others have done it successfully. It's one of the standard lines you'll hear from hitch installers who don't want to do the work. If you'd like and are serious, send me a PM and I can point you to several threads on FiberglassRV.

Nice video! Great idea to give distant prospective buyers all the info they need.

Hello Iamunique,

I hope I am correct when I say "your statement is incorrect", since I am planning to do exactly that with my yet-to-be-delivered 2014 Tacoma. Reace has assured me personally, and has written in this forum, that adding the 5th wheel hitch to a Tacoma composite bed is routine for the install shop that they use in Chilliwack. The issue for me now becomes: how well will the Tacoma and 5.0TA play together at 7%grade and 10000'? Looks like I am the Guinea Pig for that experiment. The original 5.0 is 25% lighter and should be a piece-of-cake, as they say.

Good Luck,
Alan

We have the Classic 5.0 and Tacoma combination. They work very well together. The hitch was installed by TradeMasters in Chilliwack. We've been pulling a 5.0 (previous 2008, current 2013) with a Tacoma or similar sized truck (both with composite box material) without any issues. Can't speak to the larger 5.0 TA but the classic version and Tacoma were almost made for each other

Hi again folks

I must apologize to the original poster of this very nice 5.0, I didn't intend to hijack your For Sale thread with off-topic conversation about the composite bed in a Tacoma.

I've started a seperate thread for us to discuss this further. I'll add a link to my thread after the moderator approves it. It will be in the Towing forum.

To the OP: sorry for hijacking your thread with our discussions of the Tacoma composite bed.

I've started a new thread here for further discussions on the matter. There seem to be plenty of recent threads about it already which I hadn't read.

My wife & I loved the video and I'm sure we'd love the 5.0 as well.

Too bad you are so far away (but I've always wanted to go to TX).

We're snowbirds, so we're up in NY right now. That said, I'm more than sure we can figure out a way to make things work.

Ahh well, some people have done stranger things here. Don't let a few miles keep you away from your dream!

Have fun!
