2015 17A (how much?)

Hello all,
I have a 2015 17A in excellent condition other than on small crack in the storage container.
What is a fair price to ask for this trailer? I have stored it at a heated storage facility every winter since we bought it, its never seen snow.

Thanks

There are two prices. What you as a seller want to get for your asset and the second is what a buyer is willing to pay. It's up to the two parties to reach an agreement.

I'd start by looking at the For Sale Archives, searching your trailer year, model trailer and condition. Too location is important. But do know the selling price listed may not have been the sold price. Good luck.

When I sold our first Escape I priced it at the halfway point between the price when it was new (in your case I would adjust for inflation too as it's been a long time since 2015) and what the configuration would cost new today. Makes it super easy and both buyer and seller can agree it seems fair. Maybe a good starting point for your pricing anyway.

If I paid 20,000 in 2015 and they sell for 30,000 in 2024 in the middle would be 25,000? Seems a little steep if I’m understanding what you’re saying. I can’t imagine getting more for it than I paid. Don’t get me wrong, that would be awesome! lol

It seemed good at the time I conjured it up :-) Yes Escapes do somewhat gain in value mainly because they last so well, and the current new ones have gone up in price so much more. But you’ll get good info from seeing what recent sales prices have been.

When we sold our 17A yes, we got a little more than we paid, and also we had a lot of interest because I think the “A” is a bit niche and many people (like us when we bought it) like that full bed + full booth and don’t want to deal with a black tank. And the “A” is a bit rare.

Start with that mid-point price and see how it goes? Or, this might sound better to you: Calculate what the old purchase price would be in 2024’s dollars and use that as the price. 3rd option, I think your $20,000 price from 2015 would be a very reasonable price for it today. You probably don’t need to go any lower than that.

That 20,000 number was for ease of round numbers, we actually paid 24,000 when all the options were tallied. Thanks for the information,I appreciate it!

Just to clarify: you can look in the sale archives here for asking prices but you won't find the price trailers actually sold for. Like most classified ad sites, final prices are negotiated in private. Ebay is one of the few places you can find sold prices.

I purchased a 2015 17B from original owner in January. Had AC, 4.5cf fridge, Awning, Dual 6v batteries, rear hitch, no front storage box and one propane tank and had the inside and outside shower. and was solar equipped. I paid $23k and love the trailer already 23 nights of awesome camping this year. I hope this info helps.

I am not sure on this strategy. we have our 2017 E19 up now. We are listed lower than total purchase price in 2017. I am not sure if I need to be patient or drop the price. Maybe location too?

Emile,
We have a 2015 Escape 17A, and if I wanted to buy it now, I'd gladly pay $25k for it. A new one with the things I would want on it would be well over $30k.
Be sure to mention all the features, especially the $$$ ones.
E.G. We have Air Conditioning w/digital thermostat, and we have the front storage. We also had Escape provide a cabinet under the front queen bed, just for the porta-potty.

Since Emile has now listed his trailer for sale, I'm closing and archiving this thread.
