Molly may be for sale
We have a 2 yr old 15A escape that we probably but reluctantly will sell in the next couple of months. She is beautiful with most of the options that are available and some that we talked Reece into including a second 95 watt solar panel. The final Tally was around 25 K but she has been worth every bit of it except for the 4.3 refrig which we are in the process of replacing with a new one from Dometic that we believe will cool better in very hot weather. We are thinking of replacing Molly with a slightly bigger one because we have just sold our home in Idaho and plan on living full time on the road for awhile. Bill hogan (hogawill@isu.edu)

What is the replacement refrigerator model number? Why do you think it will cool better in very hot weather?

Please more information about this frig . Inquiring minds want to know . I will say again the frig 4.3 in our trailers cost more then any other appliance in trailer . More then solar , We could have 2 ovens , awning , AC, could have 12 or 13 microwaves you get the point . Trying to figure why 2 doors on newer units ? My older Dometics were about the size of 4.3 with freezer compartment inside with 1 door . Cooled very well with all protocols in place starting up before trip , cool items , no crowding of food , leveling frig, etc . Glad for all the 6.7 solutions but in reality not much price difference for smaller frigs . So what if. Anything is the solution for the 4.3 ?

Same model but our old one was in the first few coming off the line when that 4.3 was brought out be Dometic eventhough our trailer is only two years old. You can tell the production number from the serial number. Anyway we are hopeful that in the intervening years they improved something, probably the triumph of hope over experience

Contact Reace at Escape. He has received some replacement doors for the 4.3 that supposedly help it cool better. As they are produced he is receiving them a few at a time. Dometic had to retool for quite a long time before producing this redesigned door. I don't think there is any charge for the new door for 4.3 owners with cooling issues (as far as I know), but talk to Reace to be certain.

This is an undocumented patch from Dometic . I am willing to try the new door but do not expect much improvement. The door can only insulate the refer from inside temps. Maybe the door seal is better. The under lying cause of the poor cooling problems is the inadequate refrigerant capacity and exchange capacity. The heater/combustion tube is directly below the heat exchanger for the interior of the frig. Heat rises. Overall poor engineering.

I agree wholeheartedly Jubal. My comment was intended to be more along the lines of "I would get the retrofit door rather than replacing the fridge, especially if I were going to sell the trailer anyway."
