This is the trailer we looked at last year before we ordered our 21. This is a real nice trailer.

Jenny and Ian, hope everything is okay?

That is a really nice build sheet. I like the add on shelving and the mods for under bed and under sink access. Some one will be a lucky new owner.

Thanks for the nice comments! All is well, and thanks for the concern. We have a new one ordered for May 2015!
I forgot to add that Houdini is wired for TV and for A/C.

Are you getting a 21 or another 19?

You mention that it is wired for AC; can I assume from that the roof is reinforced for AC mounting?

We had Reace wire it for A/C in case we decided we needed it later, and that, as far as we know, is what he did.

I think there is a question of terminology here. When you say you had it wired for A/C, do you mean that you had it built "A/C ready", which would include wiring and reinforcing the roof for the weight of the A/C.
I suspect it is A/C ready since there would be no point wiring it for A/C that couldn't be installed without the reinforced roof.

Yes, we understand that we could safely install an A/C unit. Instead of the A/C unit on the roof, we currently have a roof vent which is all we have needed so far. When we remove the vent screen to clean it, there is a chunk of 12/2 Romex wire along one side ready for an A/C unit. Our understanding is that all 19s are made with an opening in the roof in that location, and you can choose a vent or A/C, so the structure is the same for both.

Our 5.0 is wired the same and the roof appears to be reinforced however the build sheet did not specify that we paid anything. In talking to Tammy the other day she was unsure to what extent our trailer is A/C ready. There is about a $200 difference ($650 vs $850) to add depending on the outcome. I haven't been able to talk to Reace and confirm. So I believe you are correct and in any event A/C can be added.

It is normal (among most brands, not just Escape) to use the same opening for an air conditioner as for a vent, and to have the same openings (number, size, and position) whether or not an air conditioner is installed. That's not the same as having the same structure.

The question is not about the opening, it's about whether or not is has appropriate...

But I agree with this:

So then, will we be doing our 6 year reunion at the Escape Rally? Would be great to see you guys again.

Jenny and Ian picked up their 19 one day before Lisa and I did, and we camped together at the Fort Langley Rally that weekend. Met a few other Escapees there too. Our dog, Jasper, was under a year old then, an on his first big road trip.

Just to confirm this information. Received a quote from ETI regarding retro-fitting A/C. There is one price. $875.00 plus taxes. The other price is Urban Myth.

Thank you for your interest in our camper.
I sent an e-mail to the address you added but it bounced back, so sent a PM.
I don't see a way to attach a photo there, so I will attach one of the outside here. This photo was before the trailer was waxed and in the rain(!) - now it is very shiny and clean! Unless we are camping, it is always stored under cover, so we hope it stays that way!
Let me know if you have other questions.

We have just spoken to Reace about the 'A/C ready' feature of our 19. Apparently, as our 19 now stands, it is not immediately A/C ready. In the early models they did indeed run a 12/2 wire to the vent area where the A/C would be located. But now, to install an A/C unit, it requires a shroud on the roof to support the unit. In the newer models they run a wire to make them A/C ready too, but the shroud is now part of the mold. Reace viewed the photos we sent today of our camper roof and said that indeed an A/C unit can be installed, but it would require the installation of a shroud and the repositioning of the solar panel. Reace would do the installation of an air conditioner and move the solar panel for a total cost of $975 Canadian. If someone is interested in doing it somewhere other than at the ETI factory, he can send explicit instructions for so doing.

Sorry to keep butting into this classified ad and for anyone that knows, does the shroud comprise an approximately 1" raised (or thicker portion) of the roof in the area of the rear vent? If so then it would seem our 2010 5.0 is more A/C ready than Eddys 2009 19. Just not sure.
