SOLD: Surge Protector
Free. You come get it in Sun City West, AZ (northwest Phoenix metro area.) If I come to Qsite (as currently planned) I can bring it along.
30 amp surge protector with security connector. Worked fine the last times it was used, about 3 years ago, on our Casita.

Hi jamman,
I was thinking about buying a similar surge protector .... am now wondering why you are getting rid of it? Maybe I should re-think?
Thanks,
Tom

The permanent set up is so much nicer and useful than the portable model, sometimes the campsite prevents the use of the portable unit.

I have decided to get a hardwired surge protector for my 17A. I had been planning on getting a portable model but have changed my mind. Since ETI is about done with my build, its probably too late to ask them to install without incurring the $200.00 change fee.
So my question is: What size should I get? 30 amp or 50 amp? I have AC and a micro .... shore power cord rated at 30 amp. Maybe the answer is obvious ....
Thanks,
Tom

Yes, the HW30. Think we spent $100 having it installed on our previous trailer but just let ETI do it this time. But you could probably find someone for less if you just buy the unit yourself.

If no one's PM'd you wanting it I'd be happy to have it. We're planning on heading for Quartzsite and then on to Baja.
We can touch base later as to timing.
Thanks,
Ron

Tom,
You figured correctly: 30A input, so 30A surge protector is correct.
ETI may just do it. On my 17A, the surge protector is under the street-side dinette seat, at the back behind the electrical panel/converter. The visible display screen is on the front face of the dinette seat at the kitchen counter end of the dinette.
So, all wiring is easily accessible.
You can see the display location in the photo. (little black rectangle below the cushion.)

The obvious answer (30 amp) is right in this case, but it's always worth checking.
A 50 amp surge protector for RV use isn't just bigger - it handles the two power circuits (up to 50 amps each) which are included in the standard 50 amp connection, compared to one 30 amp circuit... that's a lot of superfluous hardware.
