Yes, any model of Instant Pot is way over 300 watts in full-power mode, and one is even well over Patricia's planned 1000 watts (the IP-DUO80 uses 1200 W). This supports the need to understand what is to be operated - for cooking or otherwise - and the availability of alternatives in both inverters and appliances.

My regret is I did not get the 1500 watt pure sign inverter from ETI. It's $550 cd which is about $425 us or so . I'm finding that buying the wire and the pure sign inverter with fuses etc It will cost $ 325 so for $ 100 I would have ETI do it .

BTW I went with a Northern Tool 2000w pure sign inverter they had on sale for $229 +wire + fuse This is really a 1800 watt inverter continuous power This will run the 700 watt (takes 1100 watts to work) microwave and my wife's hair dryer.I had ETI run a separate wire from microwave cabinet to the battery box area .I will also have an extra plug under dinette for boondocking . Still a bargain I guess if you don't want to DIY. I'm curious to know from folks who have the ETI inverter - seems to me that you would not be able to run much anyway if boondocking - do the batteries drain pretty quickly...? Say with a hairdryer or microwave (personally I air dry my hair... ) This is one reason I am wondering if it is really worth it - feedback please!

We use ours mainly on those days when you don't feel like going out and firing up the Coleman stove or are just having a lazy breakfast, it runs the microwave, coffee maker, toaster and if needed Eileen's hair dryer. With the 6 volt batteries and the solar everything is back to 100% in a few hours after breakfast, providing one is camped in the sun or has a portable solar panel which we set up when needed.

Have a 1500W ETI Samlex inverter w/transfer switch. Also have solar and dual 6V. We use it regularly for coffee/toaster and occasional vitamix blending. The batteries do go down from full to 3/4 on indicator (12.5 to 12.0 on led) however charges back up very fast if there is any sunlight on panel. If not we use it more judiciously.

A favorite new use is when our power goes out in the house I run an extension cord to run the TV or coffee maker.

For folks interested in a high power inverter, that makes the ETI price look very good. Amazon's price for the GP-HS1500 is $576 US.

Still, I use my 1500 watt Canadian Tire modified sine wave, with remote, that cost $159 CDN and it does everything I need to do. I know, it's not a pure sine wave but I've had 4 of them in different situations and I've never found a use where the device wouldn't work because of the lack of a pure sine wave. The microwave, our primary reason for having an inverter, certainly doesn't care.

Good point Ron. I just wanted to point out that ETIs price is better than buying it afterward if someone wants that same model.

We're not getting one as we would not really use it and I have never really looked into all the sine wave, modified sine wave, etc technologies.

Thanks, Brian. This progression makes sense, as Escape seems to be going with Go Power for everything. The EMS is Go Power. The Cable Entry Plate GP-CEP Reace sent me is too. This is certainly one solid accessory with enough #10 wire to make it to the batteries (I think).

I have been considering both the Samlex and Go Power units.

Ok, you beat me, I give. I know nothing about inverters anyway.... I bought a 150W one years ago and have used it twice I think, before I got a 12V power supply for my laptop.

Did ETI raise the price of the 1500watt pure sign inverter I thought it was $550 with a single plug and $850 with all plugs and transfer switch . Its not just the inverter its the wires and fuse that add another $75-100 . If you buy it through ETI let them run a wire from the microwave cabinet to battery bank so you can run the microwave and we will put another plug for tv and another by the kitchen .
I have a modified wave inverter on the boat for hair dryer but will not use it for microwave or other sensitive electronics .JIm

Not sure what you mean by that. The wire from the microwave is 110 volts and doesn't go to the battery bank. Normally it goes to the AC panel. If you want to use a microwave with an inverter then a transfer switch is installed allowing for the source voltage for the microwave to be either the inverter or shore power.

I'm not sure how sensitive mircowaves are to modified sine wave inverters. I started using my first microwave with a modified sine wave inverter in 1990. I've never had any issues with any of them.

I read all the reviews I could find on that unit, and for the most part they were good, with a few bad ones, which are common on the many good products.

Looking forward to what Jon says, but I am betting he did his research before buying.

While it has a fan, I've never heard it come on. It is either quiet enough that I can't hear it through the bed (it is under the driver's side seat under a permanent bed) or it hasn't reached the temperature necessary to turn it on.

Since I've used it with a 600 watt microwave drawing 95 amps on the 12V side for 8 minutes, I suspect the former.

I've used it at least one a week to make toast, coffee or the microwave for 5 years without problems.
