We’re very happy with the standard 3way fridge in our new 2021 5.0. With the trailer sitting in my driveway on a 100 degree day, I turned it on about 6pm on propane. Sun was going down. Concrete was hot, trailer was hot, etc. By 10 pm it was cooling down, and by 7am the next morning was ready to load up. 0 in the freezer and 38 in the fridge. I believe a thermostatically controlled exhaust fan behind the unit is now standard. We have a compressor fridge in our truck camper and feel they are superior in many ways. However, with a change in camping style, it would not have been the right choice for our Escape.

Isotherm Cruise 195 INOX "ST"

Our Isotherm Cruise 195 INOX compressor refrigerator/freezer lists climate class "ST" on the serial number label. West Marine did not offer a climate class option in the online ordering process. The options were left-hand or right-hand door swing and INOX all stainless steel or Classic models. We purchased Isotherm model 1195BB7NK0000.

As ETI installed, the old Dometic DM2663 we removed ran all the time in hot summer weather, and it rarely got the refrigerator temperature below 48º. When summer traveling in the Mojave area, we had to throw away spoiled refrigerated food. The DM2663 freezer maintaied soft ice cream and kinda made ice.

In Central Texas, with afternoon temps near 100ºF, the Cruise 195 INOX maintains 37º/0º, with "3" to "4" out of 7 inside thermostat setting.

I'm actually considering buying a home freeze dryer. That way I wouldn't have to worry about refrigeration at all!
I know, I know...where would I put the beer!

I opted for the smaller fridge as I always carry a cooler for beverages. Twice I had to dump the drinks for room to save food. Once it was a battery issue, the other time I had to replace a fridge component.

Dehydrated beer should be possible, with some ingenuity. One can already buy dehydrated water...

My Dometic had no problem with the 115 deg temps in Utah last month.....not sure if that helps or answers your question.

That’s the one I would get!

And sorry I’m not being helpful on this thread but I’m reading it with a lot of interest! So thank you all for the posts. My old RM8551 hasn’t worked on propane since the first week of April and the part is still backordered. It’s been an interesting season which included buying ice every day at Cades Cove and using my fridge as a cooler!

Cades cove is not terribly far from me....I'm in
Sw mtns of Virginia.....I will say that I was running the Dometic on ac....but never had a problem with it on propane........and it is absolutely no fun putting ice in fridge....I tend to start cussing on the 2nd day....and I would quickly start blaming the state of Tennessee.

Good idea!.....don't worry someone on this forum will come up with a nuclear powered beer cooler and swear by it........plus you could find your beer in the dark.

So which fridge do you have that works well in 100 degrees? I guess, not that it matters. My older style 17B is limited on what can go through the door and I'm going to keep my fridge going as long as I can. At least it works well on electricity for now.

Our 2018 Escape 19 with the 5 cf fridge worked great all summer. We were in the heat dome at over 105 and up to 107 for a week. Then we spent another week at 102. We never had the cool setting over 2, the freezer remained freezing, the fridge worked great. The internal fan came on and hummed in the afternoon. We have never run our 3 way fridge on anything except propane.

I know this is an old thread, but...........

I have been pleasantly surprised by the performance of my Dometic RM 2554 in the heat wave we have been having in central Texas for the past week or so. Trailer is parked in full AM sun on the DS in 105F ambient temps, interior of trailer hits 100F (both rear and kitchen frameless windows open and Max-Aire vent open and on) and the fridge maintains 0F or lower in freezer and 37F in fridge portion running on 120v with the control set at 4 out of 5.

Fridge is loaded with "beverages" for yard work breaks..

Granted, fridge door openings are zero to nil, but I was still surprised. Recovery times for an absorption fridge are usually the "gotcha".

Also, appears ETI installed the vent chamber thermostatically (?) controlled fan as well as I can hear it running when by the lower exterior vent - can't see it though......

Dometic shows this as a Climate class T unit.
