Old converters - from decades ago - are a problem. Escape uses a WFCO 8955 Power Center. The WFCO converter/chargers are not the most sophisticated, but like almost any current product they step voltage down to a maintenance level when the battery is fully charged, so this isn't a problem.

LiIon cells are typically much smaller, like 2-3 amp-hour, so you need 100s of them for this sort of capacity...
LiFePO4 (also known as LFP) is one of the many lithium-ion battery chemistries (combinations of electrode material). All modern electric vehicles use lithium-ion batteries, although usually NMC or NCA rather than LFP.

John, you may be confusing the very broad term "lithium-ion" with the term "lithium polymer" (or "Li-Poly" or just "LiPo"), which describes the electrolyte type, rather than the electrode chemistry. Most lithium polymer cells are very small, although some are automotive-sized (Kia has used them in electric cars). Lithium-ion cells of various chemistries come in a huge range of sizes, including the large pouches used to build up 100+ kWh battery packs in electric cars.

Because LiFePO4 cells do come in large sizes, I think a better setup than two Battle Born units in parallel would be one 4-cell battery. It would be larger than a typical GC2 lead-acid battery, but lighter so it would still be manageable; keeping it in one box without parallel strings leads to the simplest battery management system. If large enough cells are not readily available at a desirable price, cells can be connected in parallel at the cell level with no change in the BMS complexity. Even if very high capacity requires the package to be divided into two boxes, two 6V with a suitable BMS harness would still be simpler than two complete 12V "drop in" packages each with its own BMS.

The classic LiFePO4 prismatic cell supplier is CALB. Four of their 200 Ah SE200 cells total 23 kg in a block 182 mm wide, 284 mm long, and 279 mm high (plus of course the BMS and case).

Way back when: We had a little club built out of old rocket boxes. Above the bar was gong and when a person left our little slice heaven we held a celebration in his honor. At the end this event the honoree would ring the gong and for each ring he would donate $5 USD to the bar fund. When I left I think the fund was running around $3000 USD. At the end of the day you just walked in and ordered what you pleased. I was unaccustomed to partaking in spirits but for some reason one evening I ask for Wild Turkey 101. Nectar of the Gods. Like being a small child and being cradled in your mother's arms on a cold winter's night. You get the picture. Anyway, that love lasted me for over 45 years until one evening when I tasted something so wonderful that it brought tears to my eyes, I weep as I write these words. Makers 46 OMG

You know Jim I have spent a little time "north of the border". One thing that has challenged me, I have even lost weight because of it. The proper and appropriate use of "EH". This has been more confusing to me than even French pronouns (along with definite and indefinite articles). Might there be a book, let's say "EH for Dummies101" Eh?

if you want to bone up on north-of-the-border rural slang, just watch a few seasons of Letterkenny ...

I've tried to watch that show. Don't have a clue what they are talking about. I think you had to spend your childhood in hockey dressing rooms.

its not on american TV, but you can get it online from CraveTV by subscription, or find it 'lying around' in the corners of the internet.

Letterkenny is a fictional small town in very rural Ontario, a town populated by hicks, skids, hockey players, and christians.

this is a trailer for the first season. might be some bad language. the big guy in the flannel shirt is the writer/producer/director, his friend in the 'onesie' is his partner in comedy.

here's another short.

speaking of fine bourbons, one of my favs is Eagle Rare. Buffalo Trace, from the same distillery, is pretty darn good, too.

I did watch Red Green for several years but that just left me more confused although I am a big fan of duct tape. I forgot, I have cousin whose husband is one of the owners of a hockey team or whatever they’re called and you would think that might help

I'm partial to Bulleit. Bulleit won/scored high in our informal annual bourbon tasking contest for a few years until membership lost motivation (and their liver).

That said, recently a friend gifted me a bottle of Grand Teton vodka that makes the best vodka tonics I have ever tasted.
