I've not seen a battery store yet do a proper AH test on a deep cycle, their testers are mostly oriented towards testing the CCA spec needed for an engine starting battery.

now, true, the only way I know to test for AH capacity is to apply a fairly heavy load like 20 amps for an hour, then disconnect the load, wait 10 minutes for the battery to recover, and measure the battery voltage before and after this test and interpolate the rate of discharge. Far too time consuming for a store test.

Interstate store kept then overnight. Not sure of their procedure. Called it drawdown test.

Hi: skiman... My 2014 Interstate Group 27 12V battery needed replaced at the most inopportune time. I hit a washout in the middle of Newfoundland that actually cracked the battery case and the fluid of one cell leaked out on the floor of the dinette. What a mess!!! The biggest RV Dealer charged me $300. CDN. inc tx. to install an RV Care East Penn Group 31 5th. wheel battery complete with a new box. What can you do when you're in the middle of no place? Alf

Also, if you go back with lead acid, get a valved cap watering system to pump the distilled in them without the hassle of pulling the battery box top off...
I guess that was 2 tips!

Do you have a recommendation for the valved cap watering system?
