Black Water Tank E19

Just looking at a pic inside the driver's dinette from another owner of a 2nd Gen E19. What I saw was a removable plate on the top plywood cover of the black water tank box. On my tank plywood box there is only the solid piece of plywood with the corner tank vent pipe exiting. My question is has ETI placed an inspection cover on some tanks and not others?

I also saw that some controllers, inverters were attached to plywood cover. Is there safe clearance between the plywood and black water tank in case screw tips penetrate plywood thickness.

On both of mine the plywood was solid w/no inspection hole, probably an owner change to verify thickness when installing items. Yes one has to be aware of what is underneath anything in an Escape trailer.

if you mean 1/2” as safe clearance then yes. The Ply is 1/2”

I noticed that access panel on the new 19 videos . I was wondering if it was for tank monitor repair

Two (belated) followups:

1. Yes removing the thin plywood access panel (if you have it) in the lower right corner of the above picture allows access to the blank tank monitor probes. That's how I fixed a miswiring, see https://www.escapeforum.org/forums/f...tml#post310795 which has a picture looking through the access panel opening.

2. Yes, the black tank vent pipe is in the lower left of the above picture. In our 2018 19', the black tank vent pipe joins with the gray tank vent pipe, so there is only one roof vent. This allows the black tank to overflow into the gray tank. In our 2014 19', black and gray each had their own roof vent and there was no overflow.

Our 2017 E19 did not have an access port at that location and we were concerned that the monitor probes were underneath. After cutting an access hole, we found out that the probes were not in that location. The plywood cover is nearly resting on the black water tank; hence be very careful if you cut an access panel. Fortunately we did not cut the tank.
