DON'T DRINK the City Water

Hi Everyone,

Question about city water connect...a campsite has water to site but not for drinking. Is it possible to connect and use this city water for toilet flushing and the fresh water in tank for drinking?

Thanks,
Ian & Stephanie

As soon as you hookup and turn on the water from the hose bib, your entire (sans tanks) water system is charged. I wouldn't put non-potable water in my trailer water system. I'd use jugs of water to flush and only put potable water through the system and fill the fresh water tank with potable water. Turn the toilet by-pass on, it's a great benefit when you have one. YMMV.

Yes, unless you have sufficient water in your fresh water tank. The toilet shut off valve would prevent you from using limited potable water.

IMO, if the site has non-potable water the only thing that should be used for is rinsing your dump hose.

I would never connect it to my trailer period.

Do you want to wash your dishes in water that is not safe to drink?

Do you want to shower in water that is not safe to drink?

Do NOT hook it up to your trailer!!!

edit: as Donna mention you can use jugs of it to manually flush the toilet, too.

Just be sure to put a little fluid in the bowl after flushing. It is fluid in the bowl that seals the odors in the tank. If you have your toilet water valve shut off and don't add water to the bowl after flushing it, you will start to notice odors.
