Electrical concerns

We have had our escape 5.0 for less than a year.....first time out this summer in a no services state park we seem to have strange electrical issue. We can’t run off dc but there is a faint yellow light under dc and the yellow auto and gas lights are lit up......it has had the batteries at 1/3 to 2/3 power, I think it’s powering off the solar panel. If I try to turn it on to dc, the lights on the panel start flashing like crazy.... we do have lights and power in the camper.........I’m thinking a bad battery??.......any thoughts

Are you talking about the refrigerator? If the auto and gas lights are lit that indicates that it is running on propane - can you hear the burner?

Sounds like your battery sw may be off or bad batteries. Solar will try to power but does not have enough. Check batteries with proper volt meter. The dim light is not normal. Call ETI or watch the newest video on the fridge. Is the fridge DC button pushed in.

Switching the refrigerator to DC puts a major load on the battery; you want to run on propane or AC (if you have hookup). It sounds like the battery is low. If you can, measure the voltage & that will give you an idea of where the electrical system is at. If it doesn't improve during a bright, sunny day, (again, with the refrigerator on propane) I'd suspect the battery. Have you checked the water/acid level in the battery?

Have you run the fridge on DC previously? DC is only good for a short time, will deplete your batteries in several hours and can't power the fridge to full cooling, it is really just for short term use. If your fridge is running OK on propane, that's normally what you would do without shore power. If your lights and other 12V things are working, everything may be OK but your batteries may not have a sufficient charge to kick in when you try and switch the fridge to DC. Your solar controller should indicate the current battery voltage, it's a better gauge of battery condition than the monitor that's part of the holding tank monitor panel.
