EMS is dead?

Picked up trailer a week ago. Noticed tonight EMS indicator box is dead. No lights. Was working. Any guesses as to what happened? Anybody know how to turn it back on?

Are you plugged in to shore power or house power? We camped last week in the new Escape, off-grid, and I thought the EMS was broken but it just doesn’t come on (and has no role to play) when you are unplugged.

note that when you plug in to 'shore power', it takes the EMS a minute or two to do its testing before it turns on the power inside. the display will cycle with volts, amps, and E=? where ? is 0 for AOK, and various digits for error conditions like open ground, reversed hot and neutral, over or under voltage, etc.

these are the error codes, lifted from the Progressive EMS manual

E-0 Normal Condition
E-1 Reverse Polarity Condition (hot and neutral wires reversed)
E-2 Open Ground (means no ground wire connection)
E-3 Line 1 Voltage High (Line 1 voltage above 132 volts)
E-4 Line 1 Voltage Low (Line 1 voltage below 104 volts)
E-7 Line Frequency High (Line frequency above 69 cycles per second)
E-8 Line Frequency Low (Line frequency below 51 cycles per second)
E-9 internal data bus error
E-10 Replace surge protector module

I've been known to ignore an E 2 (open ground), this often happens when plugged into a generator without a ground bonding connector. I understand the risk here, and only do this when everything else is fine.

There's a switch on the display. It's very small. It might have been inadvertently turned off.

This thread should remind every new owner and even this older owner to read the manuals that come with your new Escape, things change and so do the instructions to operate them....

Check the bypass switch like was said but also check the connection (telephone type) where the display plugs into the main EMS unit. If the display is bad call Progressive Industries. They’ll probably send you one or I’m sure they are available to purchase.

There are two copies of this thread, and both are in the wrong section of the forum. Could a moderator merge them (or delete one) and move it to somewhere suitable?
