Fridge Replacement
Finally got all things resolved on my fridge. It quit on my trip home in Aug.
Dometic shipped a new one to my RV dealer and it was replaced last week. It is a new model and has stainless panels on the doors(my choice). The 'eyebrow' has been relocated to the inside of the freezer door. Not actually in the freezer but recessed into the inside door top. One has to open freezer door to access controls. Why that was done I have no clue. Any guesses? The door thumb release behind the handle has been eliminated. Just pull the handle to open. I like that change.
The tech had to remove the trailer door/frame to replace unit. Dometic would not cover that so I figured I was going to have to pay the 2 hours labor for that. I spoke with Dave at ETI and he said he would authorize reimbursement for that.
ETI has no obligation to pay for this as nothing covered by ETI warranty was defective or failed. Just another indication of the great support we receive from our favorite RV mfg. One does not forget support like this!
Going fishing next week.

Did you take any pictures of the install or new unit to share?

Sorry, no camera or smart phone. I just use a pay as you go AT&T phone. Can't remember the last time I took a picture of anything.

Some of us are unable to read posts without a picture telling us the story...ask Santa for one for Christmas...Any explanation for a new refer to go out in such short time?

No one reason was identified as far as I know. So many different things failed.
No power(12v) was the first problem. That was corrected, or so I thought, then it simply wasn't cooling. Dometic replaced the board and it worked for two days until 12v went away again. The heat switch was activating and turning things off. That was replaced with Dometic recall stuff and it was ok for a few days. Tried to run it on DC on a small trip and the 30a fridge fuse in the power center MELTED! After that nothing would work so Dometic agreed to replace it. All this over a period of 2 months or so.
If pictures need to be provided for anything, I'll try to draw one but it won't look like anything anyone has ever seen.
If I have any problems with the new fridge, I'm going to go live in the boondocks, assuming I can locate anywhere any more boondocker than where I already am.

I'm guessing the replacement is this one.

Looks like Dometic took care of you - nice fridge!

That model is 2 way which is fine since 12v operation is worthless IMHO. But having the controls behind the freezer door means opening the freezer to check it is operating whereas with the exposed controls are easily visible. But OTOH, this one works....

My RM 2510 has the controls inside at the bottom. You can turn the knobs on the outside, but you can't read the numbers without opening the door. Dumb ( AKA Dometic ).

No photo, it didn't happen.
Interesting information. I'm hoping that I don't have a similar problem as it hasn't yet had any real use.

Utterly unrelated to your refrigerator topic, but, since you're from Rivera, Texas, is King's Inn still good or has it gone down hill?
Haven't been there in 20 years, but the seafood sure was good back in the 20th century.

Yes, Escape certainly has top notch service. Last year my fridge failed, but only intermittently. Dometic was no help. They kept replacing parts, but it always failed again after a while. My local service dealer couldn't get them to do more. I finally called ETI up with just 2 weeks left on my warranty. They offered to replace the entire fridge, full stop. I couldn't believe how easy it was after my earlier battle with Dometic. What a great company.

I don't live in Riviera. It's just a post office address for the rural routes.
The King's Inn is still at Baffin Bay and just as popular as ever. People come from all over. Can't see it myself, 20 miles to the closest town (Kingsville) and they are packed for lunch. Expensive too!

Much depends on your local dealer. The one I go to in Corpus Christi really stayed on the job until it got done. Lots of paper and headaches involved in warranty work.
They are top notch people. After the door removal and replacement I couldn't see any indication of work having been done on the door.
If ever in the area and need work, see Del Mar RV in Corpus. Been there about 50 years and easy to see why. Kept me in the loop the entire time as to where things stood with Dometic.
No charge to me at all since ETI is picking up the door work charge.
