While thin, it is far from paper thin. It cuts very nicely using an oscillating multi-tool for stage cuts, and hole saws for round holes.

I agree, I'd rather have hardwired outlets and having them close to the dinette table is a no brainer. I view the plug in type as "temporary".
If you put the backing block in first you can just use a hole saw, as long as it's sharp.

Put a bunch of heat into the terminals on a socket, and any thermoplastic part of the socket or anything in it could melt. It's just a guess...

yeah, I decided to get a triple, but without the DVM since there's already DC voltage displayed on my solar panel controller... instead, the 3rd socket, I'm going to put a dual powerpole connector, as so much of my DC stuff is now PP ...
