Order for connecting 6v batteries in series

hi, I removed my batteries last fall to keep in the basement over the winter (from 2019 17B, 2-6v batteries in series). The wires are clearly labelled positive and negative, but I can't recall what order they get re-attached. For example, should I begin with battery 1 positive, then battery 2 positive, then battery 1 negative then battery 2 negative? With battery 2, where does the ground get attached?
thanks, Dan

one of the wires will go from the positive of battery to the negative of the other. I would connect that first. Then picture it as one battery(witch it now is a large 12 volt battery) with a positive and negative . turn battery switch off and connect positive first and neg second

Exactly how I would do it.

From the OPs pictures, he's got more wires then the drawing shows. Might also be an inverter, or maybe solar.

True, but the OP was concerned with what order to connect not what wires go where. He has labels and it's a 17 so the batteries are spaced on the bumper and it should be clear where the wires go. Once he gets the single interconnecting wire on between the two batteries it's straightforward. One battery will receive all the negative connections and the other battery will receive all the positive connections.

On edit Bob I do see he asked where the ground gets attached on batt 2 so there is some slight confusion.

From his pictures it is clear the order should be:
-Battery 2 Positive (single connection)
-Battery 1 Negative (single connection)
-Battery 1 Positive (all other wires including fused connection)
-Battery 2 Negative (all other negative wires)

Thanks everyone, very helpful. I'll follow the steps per Rubicon327. The wires are nicely bundled and clearly labelled, and I assume they include connections for the solar panels and inverter.
